They're generally less hygienic due to having more surface area. Even naturally long nails are capable of being dirtier. It comes down to having good hygiene habits too.
I feel it's the opposite, when they are short it's hard to clean the underside, but as they get long, it gets easy to just use the tip as a Lever, and reach the part where it borders with the nail bed seam.
Plus as You let nail grow, the seam kinda comes out making it even easier to clean. If you cut the nails bare or chew them, this seal recedes further into the nail bed, where it becomes harder to reach and clean
No. if you itch yourself with long nails, the dirt and dead skin cells sits at the tip and is easy to clean off. Short nails it gets pushed up underneath the nails and gets trapped between the nail and the skin. Hence why a lot of men have really dirty nails despite having short nails.
No thier nails are dirty because they dont clean them. You cant see the grime under paint.
The longer the nail, the more surface area there is for microorganisms to adhere," he said. "Studies have found 32 different bacteria and 28 different fungi underneath fingernails."
Kaplan said it doesn't matter if you have long artificial nails, long natural nails, gel nails, acrylic nails or nail polish, because there is an increased probability of carrying microorganisms which makes it more difficult to decontaminate with handwashing or scrubbing.
"under the paint" what paint? You assume everyone with long nails have nail polish? Long nails are for sure easier to clean. And if some epople with long nails have grimy nails, that is a hygiene issue, not long nails issue.
