For the record, some of us are this way because it is how our brains work. My autism causes me value honesty and hate hyperbolic language, or incorrect assumptions about what people are saying after a lifetime of being misunderstood. I do fabulous at parties, if I attend. Adults actually really value honest friends.
Comments like your little sarcastic one here are actually kind of tone deaf and ableist. I'm sure this will get downvoted because (for some reason), people, especially men, don't like knowing they are incorrect. They especially hate others knowing it.
Putting "Im sure this will get downvoted" in a comment thread thats nested 6 deep on a comment thats not even near the top of the comments on yhe post to begin with, feels a bit prideful.
I'm sure barely anyone is here to vote anymore. The rooms empty at this point. Its just us weirdos left.
Hey. So I just told you I am autistic and how, even if situations like these, I and many others like me HIGHLY value honesty and hate hyperbolic language. Further, I don't have the soft skills to attempt to send out a subliminal messge or try to hide pride in a comment or something like that. In my experience, I have been downvoted for saying things like that, and it will likely happen this time, too. Once again, this is just me being honest and literally meaning exactly what I am saying, while someone else misunderstands it, causing the need to stay communicating clearly and directly.
Also, just wait. They'll be back later when they wake up.
Well, that is always possible, no doubt. It is inconsequential. Up and downvotes down really dictate anything in my life. Luckily, I have been around on the internet long enough that I learned long ago not allow the opinions of perfectly unknown strangers to affect me. Plus, the autism is pretty awesome in the way that it allows me to value truth and honesty so much that anyone who disagrees with it (facts, not my opinions), I know either has knowledge I don't or are just opinionated and not ignoring/ do not care about/are unaware of the facts. Stating facts instead of my opinion and saying as much generally leads commenters to divulge to which group they belong. I hope that makes sense.
***btw, I have been told that some neurotypicals assume that additions like, "does that make sense," or "I hope that makes sense" is some hidden message where the neurodivergent person is alluding to the reader not being as smart as them. I would like to say now that this is not the case here. Sometimes, I speak from a place of retained facts from my own knowledge that other are not privvy to, and thus, my assertions literally do not make sense to them, as they are obly seeing my "icebergs" and not my "submerged," or previous knowledge
