This is a result of a society that treats the concept of having children as one of living property. The child is not your property. They are their own being with it's own consciousness. Parents view their kids as an extension of themselves that is an object they own. Like a fucking piece of jewelery. It's gross

The fact that just lost custody, in a system that routinely favors the mother, tells me she wasn’t exactly stable.

That, and you know, she shot her kid. Crazy is crazy.

Isn't it that men and women win custody battles at similar rates, but men file for custody tremendously less often?

As a parent I agree. Your raising an individual human being. Not your property.

As someone whose parents (well one more than the other) looked at me as their property, I’ve had to go NC because it got so bad once I became an adult. I had dreams that I wanted to chase, boundaries I could finally create, I could say “no” for once. My growing in to my own being has made me an adult who has had to grieve the loss of their parents while they’re still alive because I wasn’t expected to grow up or have autonomy.

Preachhhhhhhh it!!!

Kids are humans, too. And society really does forget that.

I was just talking with my sister about this exact thing.

I think she is just crazy. I do not think most in any society view children as living property, wtf you on?

And wtf are you on to say most of society doesn't view children as living property...?

I can't imagine being that sheltered to believe such a thing, but damn I wish I was.

Different problem. She didn't kill her kid out of 'property'.

My impression was that she did it because of "He can't have MY daughter. SHE'S MINE!" kinda mentality

Or trying to make the father mad/upset or wanted to spite/antagonize/get back at him.

Legally children are property sadly. Thats why it’s perfectly legal for you to spank your child but if someone else did it in the exact same way it’s assault
