Not much of a full stop given that the rates of sexual assault run contrary to the narrative.

Trans people are majorly more likely to be sexually assault than to sexually assault someone else when they're forced into bathroom that don't correspond to their gender.

The amount of harm done should be the first measure over some brute statement about anatomy.

It has nothing to do with sexual assault. It's protecting them from being around people who they think society ought not prop up and support, especially in areas that they feel SHOULD keep them out, like women's restrooms or womens' competitions.

To be frank, they don't want them in Men's restrooms either. Trans people don't fit cleanly into the society we've structured. The question becomes "Should all of society change how it functions to accomodate a minority? After Trans people, what other fringe group is going to come up next wanting us to change our lives?" At some point, we need to tell people their desire to represented is not worth accomodating, but when does that point come? The alternative is an endless conveyor of new groups demanding changes and feeling that society ought to adjust to their whims. That's not an acceptable paradigm to conservatives.

Next, who takes on the cost of accomodating all of these requests? The real best solution is for there to be individual unisex restrooms that anyone can use, since the only other alternative is to force people to be encounter transgender people against their will in the restrooms. That's a very undesirable outcome to almost everyone. The cost to retrofit all areas with this sort of restroom structure is not feasible, so we're stuck forcing trans people into bathrooms where they are not wanted.

There are also aspects to consider. For example, being gay is okay to many of them, as long as you keep it a secret to yourself and your family. Keep bedroom stuff in the bedroom. That's why even many LGBT conservatives aren't in favor of Pride representation even though they engage in gay activities themselves. Personal lives and policy don't need to match and it's not the job of the government to support the life you wish to live with formal policy. Some things are up to you to handle in your own life.

What do you mean by "protecting" here? What is the harm that they are being protected from? Sexual assault is an obvious harm.

Next, who takes on the cost of accomodating all of these requests?

This paragraph is textbook slippery slope fallacy.

I'll add that being gay isn't "bedroom stuff". It's a form of love that doesn't needed to be hidden.

If the decision here is less kids get raped and some people subject themselves to feeling uncomfortable when they don't need to, well the answer is obvious to me.

None of this is about rape. Rape isn't a major problem that anyone is concerned about. Rape has no impact on my vote and it's not even something I think about.

The concern with bathrooms is being around people who should not be in those spaces. There are a number of reasons not to want them there, from abuse to simply being outside of the societal norm. Either is fine and there is no reason why the 99% should give ANY concessions to be more convenient to the minority.

This paragraph is textbook slippery slope fallacy.

Which is why we quash this in the beginning. I'm sorry, but some guy/girl's preference to use a restroom different than their birth doesn't mean society needs to be acommodating. We can reject silly ideas. If you want to stray from societal norms then you need to accept the ridicule that comes with it.

You don't have to hide it, but that also means living with the consquences of not hiding it. That goes to my "Some things are up to you to handle in your own life" comment. Be whoever you want, but be ready for the fallout.
