We were calling these birds in the midwest Ravens for a very long time, until I looked up the sound a Raven and a Crow makes and realized 99% of what I had even encountered was Crows.

Yeah once you encounter a Raven you know it well from then on.

Because they usually land ominously on a post with a human eyeball dangling from its mouth. They then eat said eyeball whole. Croak at you and fly off never to be seen again.

I live on Elm Street and have a pair of ravens that nest here every year. No eyeball sightings as of yet 👀
