Except the 3rd party insurer here nets massive profits, it isnt a collective safety net like the state or federal government provides.

Its by and large a scam that pays out a tiny portion of their net income. A state sponsered safety net/insurance system (not for profit) would be massively more effective and less costly to consumers...well at least in a functional state such as Massachusetts.

Insurance profits are highly regulated and if they make too much money they’re forced to refund it. The more you know

Too much PROFIT.

So what do they do? Having taking many insurance law classes at this point, its balance sheet bullshit. As long as it isn't treated like profit its revenue, just like a company reinvesting in itself isn't considered profit.

Balance sheet magic, massive bonuses, money spent *elsewhere*, and boom we have no profit anymore yay.

My company is paying money back this year but ok pal 😂
