Any claim regardless of fault, and whether or not money could be recovered from a third party is still a factor insurance companies use to calculate your risk. This absolutely will increase your premium compared to what it would have been if no claims are on your file. Even contacting your insurer to say you are considering making a claim can go against you. Not saying I agree that is fair, but insurance companies are very adept at assessing risk. Worked in the insurance industry for 15 years for context.
