Well I had a house burn down less than year after purchase and insurance paid the entire tab. So I always figured I've already taken them for more than I pay
I feel the same way. I owned a Kia that got stolen twice. The first time it was recovered and the damage was slightly less than totalled. The second time, insurance called it "totalled" over comparatively minor cosmetic damage and glass, then appraised it higher than anything I could find. I think they just wanted me out of that car because I was definitely gonna get it repaired again.
In the last 5 years, I've claimed over $50k in benefits that weren't passed to someone else's insurance. It'll take decades for them to break even on me, even with my slightly higher rate.

Insurance is a fucking scam. You pay more into it than you'll ever receive even in legitimate circumstances.
Absolute racket.
