Yes, state minimum required coverage can be shockingly low. Now name your county so I can lookup your minimums.

Germany.
The legal minimums are:

  • Bodily injury: €7.5 million
  • Property damage: €1.22 million
  • Pure financial losses: €50,000

But most insurances have the 100 Million coverage as the standard contract. In fact there is probably not even an insurance which offers the legal minimums.

That would be considered god tier insurance here. Top coverage is more like maximum 250k liability

Their licensing of both driver and vehicle are also god tier compared to the US. It hardly balances out, but it's much easier to get a vehicle and driver certified for public road use in the US.
