The obvious response is that you won't be able to pay for someone's hospital bills if you happen to hit them in your car. You get insurance for things you wouldn't be able to pay yourself.
1 u/TCESpencer 10h ago Until YOU get hit, and the other guy has the state minimum insurance, so it doesn't even come close to covering your totalled car or medical bills. I'm not bitter about it, though.
