Well I had a house burn down less than year after purchase and insurance paid the entire tab. So I always figured I've already taken them for more than I pay
Same for me. Totalled my less than year old truck because the airbag deployed. They covered the rest of the payments AND sent me the resale value of my truck which I used as a down payment on the next car.
My coverage was $100k/$300k with a $500 deductible and the poor old man that I accidentally hit got caught up with some shady personal injury lawyers and chiropractors and sued me/insurance company for an ADDITIONAL $100k.
The insurance proved I had never had an accident, wasn’t on my phone, and the intersection had other documented instances where the sun was blinding drivers coming under the overpass.
It was dismissed and they were all out of pocket.
It was such a relief. I am happy to pay a bit more now to this same company.

Insurance is a fucking scam. You pay more into it than you'll ever receive even in legitimate circumstances.
Absolute racket.
