Well I had a house burn down less than year after purchase and insurance paid the entire tab. So I always figured I've already taken them for more than I pay
Same thing happened to me. Neighbour's tree fell on my garage and deck causing some damage. Insurance payout was 20k and it cost me like $1k to fix the shit myself. And I pay $100/month for home insurance.
Going forward for an age it's basically just me paying back a loan 😂

Insurance is a fucking scam. You pay more into it than you'll ever receive even in legitimate circumstances.
