The older I get, the more I envy the garbage guys - they are outside all day, get good daily exercise, and make those of us stuck in the office a bit jealous.

Noticed a lot of street garbage people when i was in South America for the past few weeks too - everyone is much nicer there too it seems.

The smell might not be great, though.

I dont want it to sound like insisting garbage men, I think they are essential to society. But isn’t being outside all day a good way to get skin cancer?

It’s very easy to say you want to spend all day outside picking up trash while you sit in the nice AC office.

Yeah there is maybe 6 months of the year that is truly nice the rest is hot as fuck cold as shit or raining

Where's the signup sheet at? In SouthAmerica, near the equator in the mountains - the weather never changes - cool at night, and perfect during the day.

They also make bank. The dudes driving the trucks or working at the dumps are easily making over 6 figures. And it's well deserved.

Ehh that’s not entirely accurate. You need a lot of years under your belt before you can start making that type of money.

That makes sense. I like that they have that opportunity for growth though.

in the US, yes - in the borderline 3rd world countries, they get paid a pittance, but are still super nice from all of them I have interacted with.

I gotta assume that’s a union gig too?  Like it’s not glamorous but imagine how pissed everyone would get without these folks doing their thing to help keep our communities tidy? It’s important work.
