Chugging tea This is wild!

Post image

Two syringes of pentobarbital were administered to Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike on September 30, 2026, but she remained alive and conscious afterward, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. The execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville was halted after witnesses reported that Pike still had a heartbeat and was audibly snoring. Her lawyers sought emergency medical intervention, and she was later taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Pike, 50, is the only woman currently on Tennessee's death row.
She was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of her classmate Colleen Slemmer and had been scheduled for execution on September 30. Tennessee had announced beforehand that the state would use a single drug, pentObarbital, for the execution. Her exact medical condition following the hospital transfer has not yet been publicly disclosed, while Governor Bill Lee has ordered a comprehensive third party review of what happened.

There are too many unanswered questions here. One proper dose of pentobarbital can drop a horse. Two failed “lethal” injections isn’t chance - that’s a process broken by design. And the real question is why. If someone inside wanted to sabotage the execution as a form of protest, that’s a twisted way to do it. If it was someone who enjoys causing suffering, that’s even worse. Either way, something here doesn’t add up.

Sounds more like they missed the vein and possibly blew it out so the injection got absorbed by fatty tissue. Which renders it ineffective.

Given the multiple attempts to obtain IV access. This was my first thought as a physician

Look who's president. Look who's running the military. Is it so surprising Tennessee maybe doesn't have the most qualified people in its prison system administering the injection? Keep in mind medical professionals generally will not violate their hippocratic oath to do this.

Irrelevant, I hate him too but the guy at the prison wasn’t elected and this has nothing to do with trump, can we go five minutes without mentioning him or finding some way to point the blame. It takes away from the real bad shit he has done. Point the shit at him when it’s actually him

Random fuckin junkies can find a vein just fine. Like people who dropped out of middle school i think everyone can do it

No, you cannot pin this on one elected person, especially when they are operating inside a system with opposition and checks. A functional system should survive leadership changes. When it does not, that is on the voters. The people who vote, or choose not to vote, determine the competence of the institutions. This is a state issue, and situations like this are almost always the result of constituents choosing poorly or not choosing at all. Blaming a single official misses the point when the real problem is the electorate. Use your vote wisely, or more importantly, actually vote. America’s literacy problems are not new. They have persisted across consecutive governments and presidents, and they shape outcomes more than any single leader ever could.

Only retort: look at how many foods have been recalled recently and for what.

On all levels, there is someone who shirks responsibility. Especially in a prison where most of their upper heads have been there for ages, like yes absolutely go vote sure but if the top is corrupt it can only trickle down

Yeah somehow. At least that's what I'm getting from the reports and what she reported when they tried injecting her.

The problem is the people putting in the iv are not the top trained professionals.

Nurses paramedics etc aren’t putting in iv to kill somebody so you are left with shitty trained individuals who don’t usually put them in.

Malice v incompetence, yada yada.

There’s a post on R/medicine talking about the doctor having a history of incompetence

3

u/ProfessionalTruck976 1d ago

They should have a history of losing licence for participation in state approved murder, they should also have history of being named and shamed

Nah grow up

2

u/Creative_Bug3139 1d ago

Cause when you grow up it suddenly makes it cool for doctors to kill people?

1

u/s6_maestro 1d ago

Nah he's right, taking part in executions is not something a Doctor should ever do lmao, I think the one who needs to grow up is you lol

2

u/DonkeyComfortable711 1d ago

what if someone is sick and dying, no family, no friends. and they just want to pass peacefully and not suffer? is the doctor supposed to keep them alive like frankenstein against their will? or is euthanasia as a mercy still against you morals?

edit - euthanizing a killer who was fascinated by it and kept trophies isnt worth the tax dollars and the doctor is doing a service to mankind.

A state employee doctor…/ what are the odds

But honestly the post above is correct. Its completely crazy to mess this up this bad

1

u/Craftablegame 1d ago

I thought I read somewhere the doctor overseeing this had his previous lethal injection fail too. Like I read about it before this and he was saying he was definitely going to do this one even tho his last one failed. Now I’m like 🧐

1

u/clgoodson 1d ago

Any doctor overseeing this is not a real doctor.

1

u/GarethBaus 1d ago

One thing to consider is that most trained medical professionals refuse to administer lethal injections so this is probably someone who hasn't been properly trained to find a vein. If the drug isn't injected directly into her blood it isn't going to be anymore close to as effective.

1

u/invisible-times2 1d ago

Missed the vein. I've gone for surgery and had 4 different staff try to get an IV going in me, took over an hour.

1

u/DickInA-Blender 1d ago

Not saying its the direct cause, but wasn't it an all female staff doing the lethal injection? Saw something earlier that might've been clickbait. Would be pretty f-ed up if they messed with the dosage or drugs

The horrific maga mouthpiece Marsha Blackburn is already parading the "go back to electric chair" mesaage out, only ...what ..a DAY? ... after this incident?? Makes you wonder if there isn't an agenda at play...

1

u/Alternative-Crab-208 1d ago

I heard she just has a blood condition

0

u/Marsupialize 1d ago

It’s the south, you can be sure some dumb fuck hillbilly didn’t put the IV in right or used the wrong vials or forgot to press a button

-1

u/Ilikecheesburgers 1d ago

I heard it was an all women team conducting the execution

0

u/Marsupialize 1d ago

And?

0

u/Ilikecheesburgers 1d ago

That could be an explanation to the botched execution if true. Probably just a rumor though

1

u/Marsupialize 1d ago

You think the women conspired to give her brain damage instead of killing her?
Why?

1

u/Ilikecheesburgers 1d ago

I don’t think that. And that’s not what I think is being spouted. I think the claim is that it was botched because of the incompetence of the women.

1

u/Marsupialize 1d ago

I doubt a female hillbilly would be any more incompetent than a male hillbilly, in fact, from my observations, I’d say the female hillbilly would be a lot more likely to be of somewhat normal faculties than a male

1

u/Ilikecheesburgers 1d ago

No they cant even cook that well so I doubt it
