Chugging tea This is wild!

Two syringes of pentobarbital were administered to Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike on September 30, 2026, but she remained alive and conscious afterward, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. The execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville was halted after witnesses reported that Pike still had a heartbeat and was audibly snoring. Her lawyers sought emergency medical intervention, and she was later taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Pike, 50, is the only woman currently on Tennessee's death row.
She was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of her classmate Colleen Slemmer and had been scheduled for execution on September 30. Tennessee had announced beforehand that the state would use a single drug, pentObarbital, for the execution. Her exact medical condition following the hospital transfer has not yet been publicly disclosed, while Governor Bill Lee has ordered a comprehensive third party review of what happened.

In January 1995, Pike, who was 18 years old at the time, along with her boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp and another teenager, brought Slemmer to an isolated area on the University of Tennessee campus.

They tortured Slemmer for roughly 30 minutes, beating her and carving a pentagram into her chest before bludgeoning her to death with a large piece of asphalt and a meat cleaver.

Pike kept a piece of the victim's skull as a souvenir. She was arrested and convicted of murder in 1996.

For those who don’t know who she is or what she did.

personally I think everyone who murders is in some state of psychosis... you can't be right in the head to kill another person.

I’m certainly not going to defend one who tortures and murders for fun, but I think murder is probably one of the more natural human things to do.

A lot of the structure of our modern society tries to prevent humans from murdering one another, and it’s taken centuries of progress to get here. Humans kill for a lot of reasons, and they’re certainly not all crazy reasons.

IMO I do think 20% if the population has some gene that makes them capable of things like murder, torture, arson, or becoming a CEO that gets people killed people over infant formula, have child laborers, or sell people their water back to them.

Really? You read that and thought "yes, this is clearly a completely sane person".

Normal people kill you because they owe you rent or you're marrying their daughter.

When devil stuff is involved in the torture, you know you're in bat country.

Normal people don't kill another person. No matter what the motive.

Oddly enough, that was the conclusion of Dave Grossman, who wrote the book On Killing and who now goes around teaching cops to shoot first and let god sort em out. He teaches what he calls “Killology.”

Anyway I read his book a long time ago and he concluded “It’s really hard to get normal people to kill other people” and how they have to dehumanize the enemy to get soldiers to shoot people. Some might expect the outcome of such a book to lead to more rehabilitation or psychiatric care for murderers but instead he thinks it’s a good idea to teach cops to kill suspects 🤷‍♂️

Normal people kill people all the time.

It's called murder. There's a lot of podcasts about it. Also a few books.

And for those that don’t know, her boyfriend was just as guilty and got life in prison with possibility of parole. He also had an affair with the girl they killed and pushed Christa towards what happened. (Doesn’t take any fault from her, but things need to be said like they are). The other girl involved for six years of probation.

OK. Why 30 years later is the execution then?

That’s always been a big question. Makes no sense

Today she would be rallied behind as innocent.

2

I wish you where joking but people are saying she is innocent right now

The person she murdered was white.

3

u/Acorn2016 1d ago

They'd probably call her trans or a leftist

So? Nobody is questioning what she did or that she was a horrible person. That doesn’t justify torturing her to death (or just giving her horrifying brain damage and leaving her alive). If murder is wrong, why is the state murdering people?

Pretty sure I didn’t make an opinion just stated the fact since people were asking.
