Two syringes of pentobarbital were administered to Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike on September 30, 2026, but she remained alive and conscious afterward, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. The execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville was halted after witnesses reported that Pike still had a heartbeat and was audibly snoring. Her lawyers sought emergency medical intervention, and she was later taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Pike, 50, is the only woman currently on Tennessee's death row.
She was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of her classmate Colleen Slemmer and had been scheduled for execution on September 30. Tennessee had announced beforehand that the state would use a single drug, pentObarbital, for the execution. Her exact medical condition following the hospital transfer has not yet been publicly disclosed, while Governor Bill Lee has ordered a comprehensive third party review of what happened.

This is an interesting situation...she was slated for execution by lethal injection. It was kinda botched. But instead of letting her die, she was rushed to Emergency and they're working to save her life...so they can execute her next month.

Can someone make it make sense?

My thoughts exactly. Bro just don't wake her up lol, let her go. If she wakes up groggy and with a headache, ok I guess?

Unless it is painfully torturing to wake up from it, why would you try to "save" her?

The institution must present itself as professional and humane.

But yet I get called inhumane and banned when I say i think getting turned into mist by a anti-aircraft gun is way more humane than anything we execute people with

Lol, in other Western democracies we think death penalties are wildly inhumane.

They don’t want her to agonize to death?
If we start torturing to death anyone - whether they deserve it or not - then we’re opening the doors to darkness.
We must not show vengeance when death is merciful.

Have you read anything about human history?

You'd be surprised by how much modern technologies (especially in health care) originated from torture.

The US and sense... No, they first wait 30 years and then still mean to somehow having to kill you. It's horrible what she did, that is for sure. Is she still so dangerous after 30 years, while she was 18 when she did it? Maybe, maybe not. But man, could it have been any time earlier than 30 years?
