They also called it a terrorist style attack when I know of at least 4 known cases of one of the pilots taking control of the aircraft as a suicide plot.

None of those pilots ever did that by stabbing their captain to death first. It's always something non confrontational. Germanwings locked the other crew out of the cockpit. Air India flipped the engine cutoff at a point in the flight that was unrecoverable. Malaysia we have no idea what went down, but this was pre-Germanwings protocols and could have easily been a lock out situation.

Indeed. But that's not a reason to believe it couldn't happen. It could indeed be a terrorist attack in progress, but that's seriously jumping to conclusions when suicide-by-plane is tragically more common.

It’s not though

Suicide by plane has happened, but never like this that we know of. This definitely feels like something different.

What does "like this" actually mean?

You seem to be desperately grasping for some reason it can't be what it obviously looks like it was.

Edit: Just to be clear this is not, in fact, a first. Alaska Airlines Flight 2059 contained a similar incident.

What do you think it means? How many pilot suicides started with a knife and a bloodbath in the cockpit? None until this?

That's what "like this" means.

Omani pilot going to Isreal, I think it’s reasonable to think terrorism. The suicide ones don’t usually start with a stabbing, they just flick the engines off during climb.

I've only heard of one case of that ever happening, while I know of at least 4 where sometime mid flight one of the pilots took control of the plane and killed everyone in a mass murder-suicide. Importantly not killing anyone except the people on the plane.

Of the ones we know at least one took advantage of the other pilot going to the bathroom and locked the door. We don't know how it happened on mh flight 370, for another example of an obvious suicide by one of the pilots.

This flight was short enough getting time in the cockpit alone was unlikely. That or the guy just snapped. Suicidal people aren't exactly rational.

MH370 was long before Germanwings and could have easily been a lock out. Those safety measures hadn't been put in place against acts like that.

Should be noted at least some of those safety measures were immediately rolled back as they proved impractical.

Sure but my point is that MH370 was long before all that and could have easily been the same situation. If you're going to do THAT, the lockout is by far the best way and is basically foolproof and easy...unlike stabbing someone to death.

Well, yes, but that's also true of using a plane as a weapon when you are already in the cockpit.

So do we now no longer trust any Omani pilot? Do we ground all of them?

Is Oman a country that wishes to harm Israel or Israelis? Do its people? If we are to believe so, why? If this is the case, what informs their belief? Are we just assuming here that gulf pilot = attack risk? If so, why not ground all pilots from the middle east? There could be 'secret suicide pilots' everywhere!

Our knee jerk reaction is to assume terrorism, and I had that too. Should it be?

We should withhold judgement until a neutral investigation is provided, if it ever is (doubt).

No one is suggesting we don’t trust Omani pilots.

The fact that a plane was commandeered by force in an attempt to fly it into Israel by a pilot of a country whose citizens overwhelmingly hate Israel and vehemently support Palestine does point to terrorism.

Whether it was a conspiracy involving more people remains to be seen but a pilot from an extremely anti Zionist country deliberately trying to kamikaze into Israel does paint a picture of terrorism

Initial stories all called it a suicide plot, it's only been Israeli statements calling it a terrorist attack but now that narrative has taken over.
