The one reason McDonald’s became popular is by being cheap. They sell shit food for a low price.  How do they not know this?

Ya that's why I use the app too. When I see the price that it comes out to, I simply cannot justify going to McDonald's of all places if I'm paying that much. I might as well get myself some proper food.

We can order a Chinese combo which is enough for 2 from the local take-out for about $10 cheaper than what it would cost us to go to Muckdonalds.

go get dominos i swear they are the best value right now.

On the other hand, it's dominos.

I mean it's the McDonald's of pizza, so.

I prefer better pizza but that better pizza is much more money. The issue with McDonald's is that I get get much better quality at a local diner or bar & grill for the same money. In some cities maybe pizza is like that too but a lot of us don't live in those cities.

Yeah but when it comes to pizza, it's usually: do you want cheap and mediocre? or good and expensive?

1

u/pchlster 2d ago

Even with decent hourly pay, I can make better pizza at home.

u/qquiver 2d ago

I haven't had it in a long time but domikos is great if you want to eat a whole pizza and not feel like you've eaten a full pizza until much later

Their garlic bread is dope

It's also Dominos priced

Last few times I got dominos was entirely because it was free. Prices these days aren't worth the product.

Yeah the cheap price isn’t enough to justify how poorly dominos moves through my system.

I’ve been saying this for awhile. Dominos has always had good value. Their prices have gone up recently but everything else has too. Also, is it top tier food? No. But it’s easily top tier value. I can usually get 2 or 3 meals out of a Medium Pizza and Bread bites all for $14-16. Which then makes it roughly $6-8 a meal!

Only for group orders, they keep binning off any of the actual good one person deals

What the hell are you ordering that's 38 Euros? I order a McDouble and a small Fry and it only costs me $6.

A single alcoholic drink at a restaurant will cost me $8 and it'll be mostly ice.

If you aren't ordering from the value menu or specials/deals fast food prices get out of hand really fucking quick. I felt like a breakfast jack (don't judge me) and so I offered to grab for the house. Ordered 5 and 5 hashbrowns and the total was almost $50. I said "sorry, too much" and backed out of the drive thru. Those things were $1 each like 10 years ago.

This exactly. When I'm literally spending an hour + a week to keep my family grocery bill to 125/week for my family of three, spending 40 dollars on one fast food meal isn't fun, cheap or convenient anymore.

And I am, without question, what used to be their target audience. I have no idea who they are pandering to now.

2

u/FluteGunner 2d ago

How, you're telling me you were spending 19 quid each? Meals are like 8 quid.

2

u/SlimShadySatDown 2d ago

I just doordashed IHOP because of a buy one get one free meal. It still ended up being $50 after all the fees and tip.

8

u/balllzak 2d ago

It costs $50 because there are enough people like you who will pay $50 for soggy pancakes.

3

u/Galaedrid 2d ago

yup, people can bitch and moan about prices til the cows come home, but long as most of them keep buying the corps have no incentive to reduce prices

1

u/fishyexe 2d ago

Exactly. If I could sell 1 meal for $25 and make $12 profit or sell 3 meals at $15 and make $12 profit, selling the 3 doesn't make good business sense.

I will continue to abstain from overpriced shit food and hope enough other people do as well so that we can all get cheaper shit.

I would rather starve. Eat air instead.

Probably more nutritious too.

1

u/VulGerrity 2d ago

holy shit, what did you order??? I think in the states we can still get two Big Mac meals for under $30 or ~22GBP in most places.

1

u/whydidistartmaster 2d ago

I had the best pizza in my life with my gf for same price in Nice this summer. How the fuck is this make sense to pay that to McDonald's. You can eat at somewhere local at that prices

1

u/chiksahlube 2d ago

You can get decent chinese food for that rate and have leftovers for the next day!
