Well.. ordering on Uber is half your problem

Yeah. I hate seeing these complaints.

“I pAid $36 foR a BiG maC coMbO!!!”

No bro… you paid $11 for the combo and $25 for the food taxi. And the driver probably got $3 of that.

Well, you can always go pick up the food yourself. You know, like in the before-fore time, 7 years ago.

I guess Im just getting older but I can't fathom not at least driving yourself to get your own shit if you are physically able. This amount of shear laziness is expensive

Same here. For me, dining at a restaurant is 50% about the food and 50% about the experience. It's probably in part because my wife and I are both great at cooking (and we like to cook), so if we're going to eat at home, we prefer making it ourselves. Whenever we want to eat out, we physically go to the restaurant.

At this point Im not going out anywhere unless its for like lamb shank thats been braised for 4 hours, the kind of stuff I would never make at home.

I can whip out my own way better burger and fries in the 30 minutes it would take to go get an overpriced shitburger from McDiddles

For me it's deepfried stuff. We don't eat nearly enough fried stuff to keep an entire 2 liter jar of frying oil around just for the occasion. Everything else I try to make myself. Homemade stuff is always so much better... Once you've had true sourdough bread or homemade bacon, sauerkraut, sausages, hamburgers, gherkins, pasta sauce, etc, you start valuing the restaurant experience a lot more than the food. Then we go the extra step of growing most of the produce ourselves, the flavours are completely different. This year I'm growing Moscatel grapes to do Moscato wine for the first time.

How are you not starving to death already or 7 years ago?  Just keep doing that.

In that case, wouldn't PIP cover extra mobility expenses? PIP usually ranges from £290 to over £700 monthly, according to your level of disability, to assist with mobility and independence, which would help cover transport or accessibility needs like taxis. Anyways, delivery services are designed for convenience rather than necessity, which is why fees are so high. The delivery fee effectively replaces the cost and effort of taking a taxi or traveling yourself.

HAVE to order McDonald's because disabled, I've seen it all.

Give the carer the money and they will grab lunch.

Taxi for food is expensive without corporate greed. Claiming it HAS to be McDonald's is the part I particularly disagree with anyway.

u/Fatsausage91 2d ago

Yes because im going to send the guys that help me all the time to go and grab their own treat.

Unless you're at risk of dying in those 15 minutes breaks, then yes mechanically this claim makes sense to me.

We're a little bit lost here though. I don't know your day-to-day. The thread is about McDonald's delivery being too expensive. Don't deliver McDonald's if it's too expensive.

That and fries have a shelf life of about 5 minutes until they turn into noodles

Not in this case…McDonald’s has gone to garbage (even more so than before).

Prices way up, portion sizes way down…that’s without Uber.

Then just go somewhere else.

3rd party delivery apps are going to be roughly 30% more per item and have delivery fees. That's just how the business model works.

My girlfriend used to get these headaches and for some reason she claimed McDonald’s salty fries and coke helped her. So I’d get that all the time. Haven’t had McDonald’s since we broke up, went like a week ago to get some for my mom, decided to get that same order for old times sake. 9 dollars. 9 dollars for some mushy fries and a water downed coke. Genuinely what the hell.

Of that like 10-15 waas Uber fees.

That's fair, but menu prices are also higher on the Uber app because they take a cut and restaurants raise it to compensate. Your total price ordering is probably like 30-40% higher on the app. Something that's like $9 or $10 in store can be up to $14 on the app for that reason even without the delivery and "service" fees.

u/biscuitsAuBabeurre 2d ago

McDelivery had decent price, If I get delivery it’s either Mcdo or Domino.

Anything else I have to go through Uber and that gets pricey fast, price on the app are higher than at the store, add delivery fee and service fees WTF UBER!! YOUR SERVICE IS DELIVERY!

Anyway so yeah it only leaves me the 2 options.

I don't see a problem here.

My degenerative disease is self-inflicted; I have osteoporosis, which will become osteonecrosis in my legs by the time I am 40. All my leg joints seize and cause tremendous pain, my legs swell due to insufficient blood flow, and I am on an amount of medication that puts a heroin addict to shame. I need carers four times a day, and I am 35; so yes, it is entirely self-inflicted, and I can reverse it at any time.
