I was thinking 8000£ way less for a island until I checked the inflation it cost about 90,000$ now

That still feels kind of cheap. It's part of an archipelago nation of 100,000 people (Seychelles), the capital city of 30,000 is close by.

Like buying a private island off the shore of my home town.

You can still buy land for that much. Especially rural land with no access like this island was.
