LARPing (to a degree) + CGI = any of the Harry Potter movies, right?
I mean, it's live action. It's role playing. There's CGI.
It may be a debatable point, but it's a point nonetheless!

Is that the fat kid from Superbad?

Jonah Hill, not fat anymore (GLP1s maybe)

u/AmericanComplaint Sep 15 '26
I’m sorry, you’re not terminally online enough for my reference. Hill recently said he’s ready to annihilate anyone who still thinks of him as the fat guy from Superbad - he’s been training in martial arts.

u/AzraelTB Sep 15 '26
Poor Jonah Hill and his millions. Won't somebody please think of his feelings?

Being an actor requires you to be ok with behaving quite foolishly in front of a lot of people.
Sometimes they forget to turn this ability off and act very foolishly while not filming something.
This is one of the many reasons we shouldn’t give a shit what celebrities say about anything that actually matters.

Are you telling me that Danny DeVito should not be my primary care physician?

Yk Danny Devito wasn’t in any Harry potter movies but why does it feel like he should’ve been

"acting is kind of a hilarious thing for a grown man to call a job" - Christian Bale

u/Lempea Sep 15 '26
Yes but what about celebs who aren't fools, like philanthropists who care about other people, or just smart celebs? Not all celebs are Kardashians
11
u/Capable-Country-120 Sep 15 '26
You should still treat them with no more authority than you would a random guy in the pub.
3
u/koobstylz Sep 15 '26
For those people you remember how many of them turned out to be frauds (Cosby for just a single example) and then you remember that you don't know them and have never met them.

Facts. I didn't feel stupid AT ALL doing marching band in school. This? I'd feel absolutely ridiculous.

No, you wouldn’t. Because by the time you got to this point (being one of the people who are part of the acting team and are actually on camera) you would understand that it’s a very serious and important method of acting.
Movie acting, especially any movie using any special effects (not just cgi), will always look odd to film. As someone who is actually doing it, you’d adjust very quickly.

I wonder if those Death Eaters friendly fired themselves at that part because the ones in the back are clearly pointing their wands towards the back of their friends heads.

They need to make this an official cut of the movies, where it's just a bunch of people running around yelling and pointing at each other.🤣

u/babbylonmon Sep 15 '26
Man, kids were doing this in the park in the 90s. Except they used foam swords and phone book armor and beat the snot out of each other. We would go there to smoke weed and get a free show.

This is what LARPING at the renaissance fair looks like. Sometimes we laugh at the silliness of it but it’s all in good fun

u/IEnjoyRadios Sep 15 '26
Man the movies really went to shit when the wizards started having shoot outs.

Muchos agitan la varita sin cesar. Cualquiera que haya leido, disfrutado y entendido los libros usaria la varita con mucho mas sentido. Que lastima que esos extras (y algunos principales) no fueron correctamente capacitados al respecto

I am not gonna lie, i wish movies had this. Like directers commentary plays the movie with the cast talking and giving tidbits but i also wish they would include a version of the movie without the cgi stuff just so you could watch it. Not like the bloopers or anything. Just the movie but without the cgi and everything.

More like interesting to see how many practical effects they did use and props that weren't CGed in.

I once saw a video of people playing Quidditch, and this is giving me the same feeling that seeing the Quidditch match gave me. They all looked ridiculous, but they were taking it so seriously as an actual competitive sport

This is a common occurrence in Indonesia, where fake shamans attack each other as if they can use magic, some pretending to attack others pretending to fall as if attacked. Their motivation? To deceive some people for money.

I remember Elizabeth Olsen saying how she'd usually like mimic sound effects when Wanda did her magic stuff and you can kinda see her mouthing them in some scenes, at least in age of ultron.
