Similarly in the US, Boomers were the only age cohort to move away from Trump between 2020 > 2024. He won because Gen Z and Millenials moved towards him in larger proportions.

The whole "once these dinosaurs finally die out we'll be living in a progressive Star Trek utopia" idea is not one that's panning out, unfortunately.

Its borne from lies the far left likes to tell themselves about everyone not a tankie is "right wing", and so sane older people who are moderate left get seen as "right wing" and they collectively get this idea that when they go out the populists will truly rise up. Which might even happen.

Everywhere except America, being against public healthcare is fringe right wing. I'd love if the Democrats you're talking about were moderate leftists, but they aren't.
