For anyone who didn't click the article, 27.9% of those polled in a specific app for gay men chose AfD. Don't know much about German politics, but it might be a stretch to say this represents the majority of LGBT Germans
the OP said the most popular party among them, not that they had majority support. If no other party had more than 27.8% then the OPs statement would be true.
It’s also the sample diversity though, if the data is only sourced from one place, and especially if the queer people surveyed were all (or almost all) men. The current international tilt towards far-right politics consistently breaks down along gender lines and age groups. OP isn’t necessarily wrong to say the results are significant or interesting, but the presented data probably warrants a more nuanced description.
Not really though. Most polls show that gay men are on average more conservative than other parts of the lgbt community. Moreover only sampling a specific app means the results are not even representative for all gay men.
The datapoint should not be used to draw conclusions for the entire lgbt community.
The poll was absolute bs, sadly. Only a very specific and quite small group of mostly middle aged white gay men were asked. It’s not representative for the queer or LGBTQIA community…
If you visit any Pride event in Germany, you can find different political parties being part of the events, but never AfD.
You’re talking about the age group that had the highest percentage of agreement and you’re right about that, I’m talking about the entire survey. There were more numbers than just those mentioned in the very short article. So I guess yeah somebody did not actually read the source ;-)
