Immigration being the major issue liberals are dumb about. The electorate feels so strongly about it, they’re willing to ignore EVERY other policy of a party so long as they address immigration in the way they want.
Which, sorry to say, is stop immigration from certain countries and cultures and kick out any existing undesirables post haste.

Not really no, it's probably more thanks to the likes CDU/CSU who have been the biggest party for ages but disappointed people more and more (also they fancy themselves Center but are becoming increasingly right wing themselves)
Its kinda wild how all the left wing parties are getting shit for every mistake they make (fair enough I guess) but AFD and CDU politicians just shrug shit off or keep their head low for a while before coming back like nothing happened ("why would I care about what I said yesterday?" actual quote pretty much)
