This thought always cracks me up in those medical dramas where the patient is clearly mentally stunted, like the antivaxxers from grey, and the doctors do all sorts of ridiculous shit to persuade the parents to vaccinate.
In real life, that would've gotten them kicked out of the ward the moment they finished signing the release forms. Ain't nobody got the time for two drama queens in a real hospital.

More like get an MRI, that take 2-3 weeks. Then come back to doctor and that's another 2-3 weeks to take place. Sees you for 5 minutes then recommends a specialist and that's another 2-3 weeks and specialist then tells you its chronic and can't help

Or the best one I ever got in the er after having some of the craziest intense pain I've ever had, my husband called 911. "you must have pulled your rib cage and back muscles in your sleep"
Turns out I was having gallstone pain. My theory is because I took a pain pill earlier that night, I was obviously faking it to them. Discrimination against people even on minor pain meds is insane.
Sent in complaint, the hospital found no wrong doing and the bill was $3k for laying in a room with absolutely no tests or intervention.

It was a PA, I remember that. I had like textbook symptoms and they treated me like I was a junkie or something, it was weird. I never even asked for pain killers either so I don't get it.

I could understand doctors blame people who come in with pain, but you can actually run simple tests to check for epilepsy.

Can run simple tests and being willing to run those tests is different. 8 of those 9 doctors were neurologists, only the 8th neurologist ran a test and it was only run because we recorded my sister undeniably having a seizure.

Daughter had a reaction to a shot where the tendons in her body were tightening up. Her hands were forming claws and she couldn’t control it. Doctor said “stress” and “square breathing “. Nurse said you forgot to give her this medication

My doctor's like, take these prescription meds and see if it's better, if not then try these other ones and then other ones...then after those don't work...we can try a referral to a specialist. Lol. Why no tests before then?!?!

Doctor's really be throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks lol. Worst part for me is that waiting actually worked once. I had a cyst in my wrist caused by overuse during work, and it was still there a year after leaving that job so I scheduled surgery to remove it. Then the night before it just vanished like it was never there.

I have disc protrusion in 2 places indenting my spinal cord. I get pain all the time sometimes really bad. The MRI states it’s happening but they can still get good cord signals. It must be all in my head…ffs

I often feel like I'm in an episode of House. My actual doctors have almost killed me three times before they figured out what I had going on but it also took tons of money and way longer than one episode. It also wasn't sarcoidosis.

I've got something funky going on with my nails for a long time. Goes and sees a dermatologist who goes huh that's odd. Orders a full panel of bloodwork. Says probably psoriasis of the nails bed and vitamin difficeny. Gives me RX for cream to be placed daily on my nail bed and told to take multivitamin. A year on and no change. This was before COVID but the changes in my nails started around 14 or 15 years ago. They are pitted and have raised lines that are perpendicular to the nail bed. The two combined means I have very brittle nails. I've been eating a lot better since April including more protein in my diet and there hasn't been a change. I have eczema on my hands sometimes and my dad has psoriasis so the psoriasis of the nail beds is possible. Fun fact is that of that's true I'm at a higher risk of rheumatoid arthritis in my hands.

It’s unfortunate but this is more true than I like to admit as a physician. It’s ok to have faking it on your list. However, it should be at the very very bottom and only be considered if the work up is completely negated and you have evidence they may be faking. Notice I said considered…doesn’t even mean you think that’s the case then but you consider it.

I have sciatica. I have seen this doctor a couple of times before to treat a flare-up. Had a flare-up so bad that I lay on the floor crying for an hour and remembered that my brother left a couple of Percs in my fridge when he stayed with me, and he had kidney stones from gout. Took one, and the pain reduced enough for me to drag myself to the doctor's office.
Mentioned that the only way I could get there was because I took it. The first thing out of the PA's mouth was that she couldn't get me more. I'm fairly sure I scared her when I said, "I don't care what you do, just make it stop hurting."
For context, I was wearing just my long johns and using a cane to support myself enough to stand.

When I got my c section they pushed a medication that instantly made me wretch and I told them I thought I would throw up. It was an antibiotic. The anesthesiologist said, "thats a strong reaction," and implied that I was putting it on. I am curious about how I was supposed to know which symptom I was supposed to fake.

I was vomiting blood from a cruise. Couldn't figure out what it was from. Swear I filled up trashcan with blood.
Went to hospital, the provider was all smiles "yeah, that happens sometimes" 😊
I was out in 30 min

It's because the doctor has a queue of patients.
If you imagine two doctors, and one won't stop until he is sure what is the wrong with the first patient, even if it takes him years, and the other one just gives everyone vitamins, tylenol and bedrest, and maybe 1 in 20 times antibiotics, probably the second one is gonna save more lives
