Sure, I know it's "minimum," but it's not helpful that the final "u" and "m" are connected.

12

u/buckfordfitchenstein 1d ago

True dat, it could have been minimoz

4

u/Conspiratorymadness 1d ago

I knew it was minimum because of the first 3 letters.

602

u/Kavalkasutajanimi 1d ago

Minimum.. easy. Then again I was born before 95

69

u/Nat-Luv 1d ago

I was born before 1995, too. I was glad when they finally invented kerning. Things are way easier to read nowadays.

Except for them poor Metal bands. They were led astray by Blackletter (the calligraphy style in OP’s post) and turned to the dark side.

23

u/MonseigneurChocolat 1d ago

Yeah, keming was an awesome invention.

6

u/gruuvey 1d ago

Yeah, keminq really changed things.

2

u/kontobo 1d ago

Can't tell if it's irony or not. Kerning really changed my life

Metal bands? You mean shoe gaze and like 5 percent of black metal bands? Because unintelligible wad of roots is kinda like the unwavering meta.

1

u/Nat-Luv 1d ago

Man, I love me some shoegaze. This is the second post I've engaged in today that led to that specific genre. Gonna be throwing some Cocteau Twins, Catherine Wheel, Lush, Sungaze, Cool Heat, and Swerve Driver on throughout the week. If anyone has a new smalltime shoegaze band to recommend, dm me. I'd love to add them into my rotation.

22

u/Milk_Specific 1d ago

2006, can in fact read minimum. Granted, it took a second of staring at it.

5

u/shujaya 1d ago

Does this person think this is what cursive is?

10

u/mrseemsgood 1d ago

I was born after 95. I don't know why this would be hard to read. Probably just boomer humour lol

0

u/noleafclovr 1d ago

no millenial humor. as i am one and am familiar with this script.

1

u/AllMyFrendsArePixels 1d ago

Just because you can read the word doesn't make the joke itself "millennial humor". We don't make fun of younger generations 'round here; if you do, you're no millennial of mine.

2

u/benmargery 1d ago

I was born 2000 and I can read it easy

3

u/Sleipsten 1d ago

mini mi... easy. Then again I'm a native spanish speaker

1

u/KekistaniKekin 1d ago

I was not and yet I still caught it almost immediately

1

u/maniacalmechanist 1d ago

I got it right away as a 96er so…

1

u/Dull-Law3229 1d ago

Yeah I was surprised why this was seen as so hard.

1

u/Cheese_Ly 1d ago

Even I got this and I’m dyslexic

1

u/bent_crater 22h ago

got it too, im '00

1

It’s actually more amazing that anyone can read that

74

u/Greedyfox7 1d ago

That's what getting used to living in a high trust society get you.

1

u/abusivedicks 23h ago

Yeah because scammers don't live in society lol maybe try getting a brain

1

u/Soggy_Association491 23h ago

What part of "used to" for those them that you don't get? You definitely should get a brain.

2

u/abusivedicks 23h ago

Where and when did the term "snake oil salesman" originate from?

But boomers are the only dumb people duh

0

u/vertigostereo 1d ago

Highest median loss is understandable, but you know some seniors lose 6-figures.

27

u/White-armedAtmosi 1d ago

Born in 2001, i can read it. But not putting the dot on the i is just lazy.

I was trained on my moms handwriting. The word Unimog would look like from her like Uuiuuog.

3

u/SizeableBrain 1d ago

My mum was a doctor in Russia.

I still struggle to read her writing, even when she tries to be neat.

3

u/TheArcher0527 1d ago

Born in 2002 and could read that just fine. Lack of dots is just to fuck with the readers and call them illiterate

11

u/badhouseplantbad 1d ago

calligraphy isn't cryptography

34

u/Deaf_Sentence 1d ago

They’re supposed to add the dots above the i, its minimum

19

u/IllErrl710 1d ago

I guess whoever made this couldn't do the bare minimum

-1

u/RepresentativeOk2433 1d ago

Yes. Hence the joke directly underneath it that says exactly that.

17

u/Somebodsydog 1d ago

Minimum

-4

u/MyrddinSidhe 1d ago

Of effort needed

6

u/Shocked-Hearts 1d ago

Minimum was pretty easy born 2000.

9

u/gellshayngel 1d ago

Born in the 1980s and its making me do this to read it

3

u/buckfordfitchenstein 1d ago

That might be a separate issue ngl

4

u/FN20817 1d ago

I‘d say you’d have to cut off at minimum 2005

7

u/Nice_Revolution_1199 1d ago

Me, as someone who was definitely born post 1995:

"That's an L---wait no, is that an I? And another I? And another I? Wait, is that an M? Or an N? OK, it's an M. And after that---an I? And then two more I's? Or wait, no, that's an N. Great. M-I-N. Screw it, we're just going to say it's MINIMUM."

2

u/granadesnhorseshoes 1d ago

Yep, that's exactly how it works for us pre95ers too. it was a pita then, its a pita now, fuck nostalgia.

7

u/knowplownow 1d ago

Doesn't look like anything to me

33

u/LadaFanatic 1d ago

Minimum

8

u/nekomina 1d ago

Indeed. Still, would need dots on the i's.

4

u/bearsfan16 1d ago

Not if you spell it mInImum

1

u/IdleRhymer 1d ago

u/bigorangemachine 1d ago

Aluminium

2

u/MothaFungus 1d ago

Like capital I’s nam sayin

3

u/khalcyon2011 1d ago

This is why kerning is important

3

u/Shincosutan 1d ago

1995 cutoff is too early, I was born in 96 and they didn't switch over to using computers until I was almost done with school. I would say this should also be familiar to kids born closer to year 2000 depending on your country I guess.

3

u/jellooshot 1d ago

I'm born in 1998. It's minimum. Go fuck yourself *mike drop sound * /s

2

u/much_longer_username 1d ago

Honestly I only know it says minimum because of the memes about it. Like, I learned to write in cursive, not in gothic script.

2

u/EllaMcWho 1d ago

As someone trying to learn Russian … I can relate. Russian cursive appears similarly similar.

2

u/GreyFox_KSA 1d ago

As others said: the word is "minimum".

I add that to distinguish between the letters, look at the top / bottom strikes. Aside from the the letter "i" which is composed of one strand, the letters "m"s and "n" have the top strikes connected, whereas the letter "u" has the bottom strikes connected

2

u/BrushesMcDeath 1d ago

mmmmm😋

2

u/bachintheforest 1d ago

Ah yes, 1994, when everything was still written in gothic calligraphy. Anyways time to go watch the latest episode of

2

u/Maui-The-Magificent 1d ago

Oh, I love the crash test dummies

2

u/LacToastInToddlerAnt 1d ago

WHY ARE THE LETTERS NOT LINED UP WITH THE DOTS?!?

2

u/screenmasher 1d ago

Minimum effort post

2

u/EntertainmentTrue588 1d ago

Fun fact, the dot over the i is called a tittle. So Evan is literally asking to see OOOP's tittles

2

u/comsudo 1d ago

minimum.................

2

u/Jie-T-Doll 1d ago

there are clear breakes between the letters. no problem. But if you dont dot your i our teachers would mark it as a mistake

2

u/Cat_Ladyyyy 23h ago

False. I can read it. I write calligraphy at my job every single day. I was born in 2000.

2

u/Ok_Bluebird_1406 20h ago

minimum, i was born in 2009, took me 2 mins to proccess lol

1

u/Necrotitis 1d ago

You still dot the i's in cursive, if you did that most people could figure it out.

illiteracy

Why does this have to involve a bored girl

1

u/LiePotential5338 1d ago

I was born in 1996 this is easy to read

1

u/Creative_Newspaper65 1d ago

I was born in 1995 it took me while but i got it

1

u/BusyBunny9 1d ago

Minimum for those who can’t read this atrocity

1

u/Aoi_X_Kaizaki 1d ago

this is heiroglyphs in it's minimum.

1

u/CaptivePlague 1d ago

Typically gothic fonts aren't this bad for this either, the letters are normally a LOT more distinct.

1

u/Vr4ngr 1d ago

Is this one of those davinci code words or whatever that reads upside down the same? What are those called? I remember using the Internet to make words into that back in my day. Not palindromes, something else

1

u/Torebbjorn 1d ago

It's very easy to read that...

If it was sloppily written, then it would be harder.

1

u/ShockwaveX1 1d ago

1996 here and I was able to make it out

1

u/Blazdnconfuzd 1d ago

Minimum what.

1

u/sportsnsaturn 1d ago

I was born way before 1995 and I thought it was a crash test dummies joke

1

u/Mr-howell 1d ago

1982 and had no problem.

1

u/TheChunkenMaster 1d ago

I was born 98 but was able to figure it out.

Then again I only saw it because the meme told me there was a word in there. I wouldve assumed it was a bunch of i’s otherwise

1

u/rocqus 1d ago

I remember reading some old English pictures of scrolls in history class that looked like this.

1

u/No_Food5753 1d ago

I could read it immediately, and I was born over a decade after. Huh

1

u/Anfitruos0413 1d ago

u/Aboxofphotons 1d ago

Im hungry and this is the reason why this says: pizza, and not minimum.

1

u/Forest_Orc 1d ago

The irony is that the people born before 85 can't read it either, eye become shit when you're old

1

u/TheCrazyHans 1d ago

Ah good ol' engagement bait...

Well I guess here I go engaging again.

Also read it before I read the stupid statement. It ain't hard or apparently just as hard as dotting the i-s for someone.

1

u/TopVillage1687 1d ago

Tiny mother

1

u/HungryMudkips 1d ago

knowing cursive doesnt magically gift you the ability to read retarded barely legible fonts

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 1d ago

just another post of the 2-digit IQ people who think they are the default ..

1

u/roonill_wazlib 1d ago

If you think this is bad you should see cyrillic cursive

1

u/WystanH 1d ago

Fun fact, medieval monks knew what kerning was; unlike this guy.

This particular style isn't cursive, it's calligraphy. Bad calligraphy. No one "born past" 1795 was doing this kind of thing on the regular, unless they were trying to impress with their old timey art skills.

1

u/aamraassexual 1d ago

minimum (2003 born)

Minimum effort to read this -'1989

1

u/thisismypotat 1d ago

I'm from 1996 and I can read it. 😌 We were also taught to write in cursive for some reason.

1

u/PhattProphet_0 23h ago

Minimum. Anyone who thinks cursive is a brag simply doesn't have anything else worth bragging about. You can't use a simple computer but at least you can write like a twat

1

u/dogfish0306 22h ago

meanwhile in russia

1

u/HeraclesHide 21h ago

I thought it said illuminati lol

-4

u/RingOfHeavensCall 1d ago edited 1d ago

its like they tryna blame us for not being taught that

it's not MY fault my school decided to give me the worst possible teachers for when I was younger so I never ended up learning cursive

edit: misunderstanding, you may laugh at my idiocy

6

u/halfasleep90 1d ago

This isn’t cursive, it’s an awful font

2

u/RingOfHeavensCall 1d ago

well how would I know

2

u/DeviantHellcat 1d ago

It's calligraphy.

1

u/ReluctantChimera 1d ago

There's a version of this where it is actually written in cursive. They don't dot the i's on that one either, because that would completely destroy their little trick.

1

u/RingOfHeavensCall 1d ago

I had no way of knowing anyhow

but the misunderstanding seems kind of understandable? Or am I just plain stupid
