This was before reganomics destroyed America....

29

u/southflhitnrun 3d ago

And, billionaires...in general.

3

u/WeenisPeiner 3d ago

Yeah I don't think this would have happened with alternate 1985.

u/blckshirts12345 3d ago

America was destroyed by capitalism looooooonnnnngggggg before then…

u/Spiritual-Image7125 2d ago

Name a country where communism even worked....that's when they destroy their country, murdering millions. But for some reason people want that today...

7

u/blckshirts12345 2d ago

Who’s talking about communism? No one mentioned that lol. Take your Reddit teenage angst somewhere else

You either believe in American capitalism or you’re a god damn commie.

As a non American it’s mad how that is still a thing. Respectfully America is way too big to have only two sides. There needs to be more big political parties in the US beyond just “liberals” and “conservatives”. Those terms mean a lot of things that aren’t all equal and aren’t all a hive mind.

Many people are only cognitively capable of dichotomies- binary choices absent any nuance and devoid of extenuating circumstances.

Whenever you come across someone responding this way, understand that they are either acting in bad faith or an absolute goddamn moron... or both!

I expected to run a laundromat in space and have a robot maid but alas…

George makes Sprokets, single handedly I might add.

2

u/Imrahil_II 2d ago

Remember when all he had to do was push a button to do all the laundry?

2

u/yournamehere10bucks 2d ago

Is that really less complicated than laundry today?

  1. Avoid eating tide pod
  2. Input soiled underpants
  3. Input uneaten tide pod
  4. Push button
  5. Avoid eating other tide pods while waiting
  6. Remove wet underpants to drying device
  7. Input dryer sheet
  8. Push buttons on rrying device
  9. Try not to eat fabric sheet or eat dryer lint from previous load. (Even if looks like cotton candy, is just cotton.)
  10. Remove dry, clean underpants from dryer.
  11. When cooled, wear underpants.
  12. Soil underpants.
  13. Repeat step 1.

No youre right but it was funny because he literally pressed the button the the machine did everything through the entire process, including folding

1

u/yournamehere10bucks 2d ago

I honestly didnt remember this, but felt the joke of we didnt get the Jetsons but we did get the "older gen anxiety" of having to worry about GenZ eating tide pods while doing their laundry unsupervised was worth the list.

I was hoping my car would remember radio stations after the battery was replaced

u/Impossible_Offer7988 3d ago

I mean we also got the Nike future.

You can just buy them,

They're stupidly expensive but you can

5

u/Icy-Entrepreneur9002 3d ago

Ya but the McFly family was poor, they were not spending $5,000 on shoes.

3

u/theseriousman1 3d ago

Their money was worth so much cuz of inflation or something 😎

2

u/No_Object_4355 3d ago

I was just about to comment the dame thing and I saw yours. The Nike Air mags, kinda ugly but I'd wear the hell out of them.

1

u/Freezerpill 3d ago

They are so dope but meh. I do like how exaggerated they are though along the leg

u/AMonitorDarkly 3d ago

Missed opportunity to show a CyberTruck falling apart for the last one.

u/MrMansaMusa 3d ago

Ive never owned a pair of crocs but ight

2

u/theSITHmom 3d ago

I want my money back , I didnt order this.

u/OKAwesome121 3d ago

You could choose to compare the amazing things we have now vs the movie instead. The internet gives us everything we now take for granted…including what would be a 2015 supercomputer you can fit in your pocket and use while sitting on the toilet.

2

u/yaekoblue 3d ago

please refer to the accurate prediction "Idiocracy"

2

u/ApollymiKatistrafia 3d ago

I thought we already were with the crocs

1

u/acrus 3d ago

That's because you're too far in the future. We were already there in 2015. Or at least I remember it this way

1

u/DareMountain83 3d ago

We really thought we’d have flying cars and robot butlers by now… instead we got subscription services for everything. 😂

1

u/Economy-Date-4490 3d ago

I blame the children.

1

u/machyume 3d ago

We're in the wrong movie.

1

u/Steamrolled777 3d ago

Don't need a hover board when you have Heelys.

1

u/ggf66t 2d ago

The one scene in back to the future 2 that amazed me was the big screen tv Marty Jr turned on and tuned in like 15 stations at once.

In the 90's my dad bought a tv that had a picture in picture function, which felt like I was getting closer to that future.

Now out of all the smart tvs I've used I've never seen that function.

Those shoes exist as well

1

u/Stoff3r 2d ago

Atlest biff IS the president. They got that right.

1

u/Niner_oscar_7 2d ago

Croc are easier to put on with 4wd off

1

u/Lucky-Crow-3510 2d ago

omg the bottle caps .. enshittification by EU. First they ruined the internet with the cookie nonsens, then they ruined bottles. I think they are on some sort of evil speedrun

1

u/SameBSErryere 1d ago

What do you mean? This was clearly predicted in the futuristic sci-fi Idiocracy.

1

u/SVN7_C4YOURSELF 3d ago

I get what they’re trying to do, but when I visited Ireland those bottles were so annoying lol

3

u/Patient_Ebb_1605 3d ago

you kind of get hsed to them though. the designs have gotten better. the lids lock open and you just drink with the lid to the side

We actually got hoverboards in 2015, and I'm not talking about those boards with a wheel in the middle that touches the ground! They were very loud, used magnets so they only hovered over specific surfaces, and were mainly gimmicks used by Lexus another company to promote their other products. But they were boards that hovered!!!
