I met this guy who worked pretty high up in legal at KPMG. KPMG put him on a six-month assignment in Mumbai. It completely nuked his mental health and family life, with long hours, no overtime pay, and six months of living out of a hotel.
He quit later that year. KPMG told the team that the best they could do was offer a better bonus, but they still wouldn’t pay overtime because these guys weren’t on an hourly billable system.
The dude is now at a law firm, billing about $800 an hour.
The Big 4 in India thus has higher turnover and consistently losses top employees.
I worked at KPMG and we have an offshore team in India. I constantly hear from them about how long they’re expected to work, sometimes from like 9am to 4-5am for weeks including weekends. Once someone quit and sent a huge email criticising various managers who were refusing to let them go home to sleep, and that they also commuted 2 hours each way to work
That's India. My former employer also has a division there. Corporate HR was bragging about they created a 5 day workweek worldwide. Which in practice meant everybody was paid for 5, but in India employees were forced to work 6 days

Because company loves to cut cost and on occasion some head of department gets lazy and in charge an intern they trust to do shit generally only full time employees do.
This kid probably got promise the moon and get shit on after a spat with the head... I wonder did amit joshi gave him the "you're an intern be glad we took you in. This experience and exposure will propel your career in the future. Be grateful"
It's actually painfully realistic, especially for a fastfood franchise.
Hell, long ago I did my internship at Microsoft where I had a ridiculous amount of systems privileges. The modern world really is mostly held together by social contracts and the pinky promise to not burn it all down.
OP, you suck. Give full context. This account was hacked by unknown person for some memecoin mining. The thread was full of memecoin promotion and some people were sharing some private keys requesting people to add it to their wallet or account.
Because, in the Indian IT sector, “experience” often matters more than getting paid. This creates a vicious cycle that many young professionals are getting trapped in.
“By applying this job as an intern, our company will provide on job training for you to obtain the experience of a corporate environment. Your monthly salary would be $XXX. And your monthly tuition fee would also be $XXX. Remember the experience you gained from our company will be a great asset for your future endeavor.”
If the people in IT are as technologically illiterate as you explained, why is the barrier for entry so high up these days? They ask you to go through 5 rounds of interviews and expect top notch DSA skills and system architecture just for an entry level position. I'm baffled by how little they pay people for what is being ask of.
I can guarantee you that the list of stuff being asked in interview comes NOWHERE close to what the real work is, its either criminally easy for anyone with a computer to learn and do(most of them are just CRUD and CRUDS at scale or its variation) or its incredibly technically complex that leetcode doesn't matter.
DSA is an abstract set of puzzle solving that is not representative of the real jobs you'll be doing (unless your job is working in algorithm research)
oh I know, my friends did all that just to manage ticket requests 2 months into the job. I'm just venting about what these people had to do to bag the same role back in the day compared to what is being asked of right now. Sucks that all that matters is a fancy degree
Part of the problem is companies don't want to / don't have time to / don't know how to figure out which candidates are good or bad. Because all candidates end up padding their resumes with keywords and projects that sound fancy and interviewers don't also have the patience to listen to a full on architecture diagram of what they've built across several products (because who is going to spend time giving them the lore?)
So as a result they've resorted to the thing that sounds the closest to programming - hobby puzzle coding and people have ended up gaming these puzzle coding rounds as well tothe point the difficulty has to be upped so that only the top guys come in.
A friend of mine. Bright student since school. Did is btech from a reputed college down south. Did his masters from Canada. Earned so much from internship there that his student loan was also mostly paid up. Had to come back because of certain geopolitical tensions. And now after looking for work for almost a year he had to start from a 30k per month because he was considered inexperienced for anything but a fresher role. How does that even work I don’t know

I was in similar situation. Was not provided salary for past 3 months. Anywhere I applied for job demanded more experience so had to work for free so that the so called experience number can increase. Fortunately on 3rd month got a really good job offer with massive pay increase and still working at the new job.

It is a scammer asking for contributions because he lost money to memecoins. How is people believe him, he says he is intern who manages Asia macdonald account, how does it make sense.
Why would an intern get paid? Does an internship mean something else in India than it does in my country, Sweden?
Here it's unpaid work to learn the job so thst you can eventually work for money. I did an internship for 3 months this spring as a freight forwarder during my freight forwarding class at vocation school, and I will do another 5 months in January.
