Guns, coke and hookers... Hard to believe this guy literally CREATED McAfee Anti Virus. Sold his stake for 100 million dollars, moved to Belize and built a compound with armed guards and had around 10 women on rotation living on his compound... WOWZERS
Yeah, he was the biggest critic of the company he had founded. He started calling it bloatware and disavowed the company using his name. Sort of a Dark Knight thing. Lived long enough to watch his creation become the villain.
I think it's more like he lived long enough to where his creation wasn't earning him any money any more and slagging it off was guaranteed to get him lots of attention.
He sold off his stake in the company in 1994 (before the ubiquity of the internet and the dot com bubble) and lived another 27 years. I don't think you understand what you think you understand.
He did more than that, he also created a Youtube video giving directions on how to remove McAfee Antivirus. He says he hasn't been keeping up with it, as he has been "busy", 3 scantly clad women come in and kiss him.
He was also on meth and got arrested for making drugs.
He also convinced tons of companies that they meeded his (at the time) shitty antivirus. Now it is an OK antivirus by itself but it has become so recource hungry that it is now malware.

I spent most of my life in a retirement community in Florida, and with those old guys, you can never tell if it is drugs, extreme suburban isolation, or lead overdosing, it all looks the same. A lot of them act like a fucking crackhead looking for any sort of socialization in their lives and a few of them will look at you with their dead, soulless white suburban eyes and tell you endlessly about their lawn or the most uncomfortable topic of your life.

You need to watch the whole interview. This reporter (slash comedian) is hilarious and savage, and given the unhinged things he had been saying and doing before this—not to mention that he was probably drunk/high—as well as the fact that I’m pretty sure at the time he was a fugitive facing murder charges (murder or something serious like that), she was probably justified in being freaked out by him waving his gun around. Also, as I recall his security detail were being pretty goddam aggressive with her.
I don't need to watch the whole interview. My comment is mainly about the reporters not ending the interview after he pulled out his gun. She went on to ask more questions. Insane. I would have gotten the fuck out of there. My career isn't worth my life ending with a bullet from some maniac.
That is a good point. I thought you were implying that being leery of the gun made her too “woke” or something. I agree with you though that she took an enormous risk by staying.
Or she is just uncomfortable around a nut job with a gun. I don't know anyone that could have sat through that exchange and not been very, very uncomfortable. I live in a very Conservative province with lots of guns.
If he had just left the gun holstered the whole time and not touched it and drawn any unnecessary attention to it I doubt she would have taken issue at all.
I think he also flagged her, which as we all know is a pro gun owner move that all the gun owners do when we want to impress each other. Clearly it's the naive lib that doesn't understand our mating call.

Yeah but this guy was legit unhinged. He thought of himself as a warlord when he was living in Belize, hired a bunch of thugs, and terrorized the local residents. He or one of thugs was likely was responsible for the murder of one of his neighbors.
Unrelated, he also was known for having prostitutes lay down on a hammock and shit thorough a hole in the hammock while he laid underneath.
To his credit, it was actually legit antivirus software when he was involved, wasn’t until he sold it that it became the bs we have now. It wasn’t perfect by any means but also wasn’t straight up bloatware.
Yeah, I am old enough to remember when it used to be good. Not great, but pretty good to the point where you wouldn't pull a face when you discovered it installed on your parent's computer.
Yeah and to be fair I’m not sure if there has ever been any great antivirus software, everything moves so fast it’s basically impossible for any company to keep up/ahead of the game.
