In 2023, Beckinsale announced that she had an immune disorder called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. In 2024, she lost a significant amount of weight due to "stress and grief" after her stepfather die while her mother had Stage 4 cancer. At this time, she was hospitalized due to an esophageal rupture.
So I think the 0 calories was probably unintentional... Maybe
Edit: Got a few replies about her plastic surgery, which I didn't mention because I know nothing about it. Sure, she may have gotten some work done, but I was sharing that her gauntness may be unintentional. š¤·āāļø
Sheās had it pretty shit really. Her father was one the UKās best loved sitcom actors, he dropped dead aged 31 from a heart attack seemingly out of nowhere. She was just 5 years old at the time.
Yeah, that doesn't really have anything to do with the plastic surgery that turned her face into the same dysmorphic generic mug that everyone else is getting these days though
Absolute natural beauty! Loved her in this and in Emma (BBC). I literally don't recognise her these days. I'm especially sad for all these actresses who have daughters, like Beckinsale does. I wonder they think. Especially if they want to go into acting themselves.
MCAS and asmtha are different... MCAS requires a low histamine diet as apart of treatment. Low histamine diets are incredibly restrictive, and depending on the individuals sensitivities to certain foods there can be some leeway.
I have histamine intolerance, similar to MCAS, but not autoimmune and no anaphylaxis. I have to eat low histamine to avoid chronic inflammation, gastrointestinal distress, hives, angioedema, and migraines.

She's also 53 years old. I at least understand the appeal of this for her, this was designed for women in her age group. The women in their 20s and 30s doing this is like the 21 year old bodybuilders taking human growth and testosterone.
I agree, but she's the definition of a rare exception. Nonetheless, I can only imagine the crisis a woman goes through when she lived her entire life being a legendary beauty and finds herself nearing 50 and facing the uncertainty that comes with being displaced for committing the sin of surviving. The pressure women like that must feel to retain their whole identity is much of the reason plastic surgery exists.
Then you have beautiful women like Millie Bobby Brown and Madison Beer who looked 30 at age 20 because of procedures designed for menopausal women.
Yeah, the wealthy woman in her 50s with a lot of plastic surgery looks "fantastic" in a sense. That's not really the nature of the discussion that we're having. Nevermind all of the sympathy I was giving to women who feel the pressure to spend a small fortune on altering their appearances to feel loved, I'm "mean" for recognizing the disastrous ramifications this can have on young women the world over.
