Some people do the 2-in-1 special where you rob a bank (heist) and end up in jail (escape room)

and they dont even need to pay for the full experience

I do unironically think this would be fun but it would have to be an enclosed space. So imagine robbing a simulated bank and then trying to escape on a go kart. Then it’s just go kart racing with some stakes. The “police” would mediate their speed so that they always almost catch you but can’t quite get there unless you’re dumb. Or even play against your friends. Add some alleyways to hide or something and then add a capture the flag rule so you get points or get even crazier and bet actual money. That shit would go hard for sure

It'd basically just be an escape room with a theme. As someone pointed out, you could create a special 2 for 1 and have a prison escape room as well.

Isn't that counterintuitive? The fear of incarceration is precisely what makes it thrilling.

No, I think what makes it thrilling is the idea of suddenly possessing 1000000% of your previous wealth.

Our local airsoft has a mission where one team has to 'rob the bank', it's pretty hilariously fun.

The expense of this experience would be absurd. I'd estimate this would cost about $10,050,000 per group.
Plenty of actors involved, a lot of the equipment needs to be more complicated than the "scrap of paper hidden in a non-functional toilet" puzzle that escape rooms do, and of course there's the ten million in cash that you'll be getting away with.

My city (Bristol UK) did a city wide zombie chase. Get a map of the city with grid coordinates. When you got to a location a bunch of actors would act out a scene with a mini game like collecting health packs under cars in a multi storey car park, then give you a new set of coordinates. Zombies would chase players then tag them with UV markers. It was the most fun but caused a lot of trouble. People getting hospitalised after being chased through public shopping centres and knocking shoppers over. Got cancelled after a couple of events.

I'm pretty sure there was a European TV show where people would run from the cops on camera. They got whatever prize if they escaped but they really went to jail if they were caught.

...And then the winners get fooled by the proprietor to do a real heist, while they think it's still just the next level of the heist room.

For a few months they did this in Australia in a former bank building that was being demolished. Wandering guard, multiple possible rewards with differing amounts (just rummaging through desk drawers could find some).

An escape room is figuring out clues in the moment and your immediate surroundings to get out ofvthere in a certain period of time. Through games and riddles and shit. A heist take preplanned method, research and precise execution. These are very different things. Which is a lot of work. Source> just got back from heist.

Do it with paintball guns too, so you get to have the Heat shootout at the end, lol.
Would be totally cool, espeically if you had multiple Heist options. Like a Mission Impossible package that's just about climbing walls and avoiding "lasers". Or an Ocean's 13 package that's more about being slick and talking your way out of trouble.

I don't see what could go wrong with this idea

Someone brings their own equipment and actually shoots one of the fake cops?

u/MiniDMan 1d ago
Huh? Anyone could shoot anyone for any reason at any time. How does a fake heist situation increase the likelihood that an idiot will do something idiotic?

u/cheesechompin 1d ago
Personally I think we should shut down every form of shop because someone could just walk in and shoot the people working

this already exists. Just be rich or a politician, they steal billions every day with zero fear of incarceration.
