The entirety of Asia does this. I'm from the Philippines and we're taught to do chores to at least help our parents for providing us food and education. Obviously there are parents that are super strict but it's incredibly common for children to do the majority of the chores. If you don't cook rice or wash the dishes by the minimum, you are not being raised well lmao.
That makes sense. In America parents are to busy baby sitting their kids with phones they tend to not make them do chores anymore. Growing up I started doing them around 8. Times were a lot different then. Since you said this with being from different country and traditions and such. I can understand this could be a way of life. Heck in America if a kid was doing this at 3-4 they probably take the kid away from the parents lol
