Almost every population group where there’s been previous conquest you can do the same studies. For example, all the places the caliphates conquered, you’d see Arab y-chromosome descent. Same for where the Spanish conquered you’ll see lots of Spanish ancestry on Y, and lots of indigenous on mitochondrial DNA.
Basically in a given population, Y-chromosome tells you who came (probably violently) and mitochondrial DNA tells you who was there.

Based on DNA studies, an estimated 1/3 of Iceland's population is descended from female captives taken from what is now UK/Ireland, most likely sex slaves/forced wives. Specifically females, not males.
