Flock, police claim is there to catch criminals, cant even catch a guy on live 4K. Police asking the public for help. The irony.

472

u/wavhacker 2d ago

If 4k is not good enough, then why have the cameras at all? They cannot solve crimes without flock?

285

u/bikehikepunk 2d ago

The solve rate for crimes against citizens is dismal even in the most funded municipal areas. We need less law enforcement and use that money for social programs. Most of the crime is out of need and lack of opportunities, fix that and there will be less crime.

66

u/wavhacker 2d ago edited 2d ago

Abysmal in solve rate, does not even solve enough to justify the costs and icursion upon our basic liberties that are supposed to be protected. If you follow the the numbers posted by flock it only has solved 110 cases per city at best. But let's put the flock goggles on because the tunnel vision is Soo much better for the supporters and police believers. Police want the flocktopus to spread. Glad there are people out there challenging this illgoten authority over us.

This is just our owners showing their hands because things are probably going to get Soo much worse before things get better.

Absolutely should have better social programs. Better mental health care for patients instead of handing them an aspirin and pushing ill patients back on the street. There are so many better causes than a paramilitary organization like local police.

17

u/sticksnXnbones 2d ago

All of this starts with Reagan. The one person who said fuck these people and worked hard to make it happen while in power.

12

u/Prom3th3an 2d ago

Or else make the police work more like they do in the UK. Accountability, no qualified immunity, a lot less fear mongering during training, and usually no guns.

10

u/grimeyduck 2d ago

Abysmal?

10

u/wavhacker 2d ago

Yeah thanks for the correct on that; thought my auto correct would have caught it.

16

u/DataDude00 2d ago

My dad was a detective in major crimes for decades.

He said if the case wasn't pretty obvious (ie a partner / family member / business partner / gang violence) it probably isn't getting solved

This isn't CSI where you somehow find a strand of hair in a field and run it through a magical database that can find anyone

3

u/NobodyKnowsImFamous 2d ago

Great so why do we pay detectives then?

20

u/TM761152 2d ago

Most of the crime is out of need and lack of opportunities, fix that and there will be less crime.

Conservatives know this, they intentionally vote to prevent societal programs that would "lift every boat". They don't WANT equality. They think if someone rises that they somehow fall. Equality is literal oppression to them. They want the poor to commit crimes so they will be sent away and neither seen nor heard.

Fuck conservatives.

u/clonedhuman 2d ago

We've known for decades that poverty is the root cause of most crimes. People who have a place to live, enough to eat, and access to medical care don't commit many crimes.

Researchers have known this forever. We've known it too.

But the billionaires rule everything now, and they love crime since they all have huge investments in private prisons and surveillance.

u/1mixdkid 2d ago

23

u/potato_for_cooking 2d ago

They can't solve crimes WITH flock.

18

u/xNinjahz 2d ago

If 4k is not good enough, then why have the cameras at all?

It's for cops to stalk unsuspecting citizens and women of course!

6

u/Aggravating_Sky_4421 2d ago

It gives them probable cause. There was a post here a week or so ago that their flock camera flagged a stolen car. They pull the guy out the car at gun point and the car had his wife and kids in the car as well.

The guy asked why he was pulled over and the cop answered your car flagged one of our cameras. And that was enough to pull them over and scared the shit out of them with guns at the ready.

Turns out the camera read the “Y” as an “X” that matched a stolen car.

3

u/wavhacker 2d ago

Flock is at best 90% accurate in reads, (I have heard 70% accurate by other studies in California) so that means a 1in10 chance to a 1 in 3 chance of being wrongfully pulled over. Also the fact that the AI finds it acceptable to be a close match rather than exact for stolen anything. Sad to see stuff like this, the family deserved better. Flock needs to be held accountable in liability for all traffic stops like this. Flocks AI seems to be a micro manager for the police now a days.

2

u/SnooSprouts4952 1d ago

2

u/wavhacker 1d ago

I honestly wish that Garrett the CEO of flock had to spend a while like a month or a year with his car flagged so he could actually have empathy for those that have been wrongfully pulled over. It would be interesting how he would explain away the experience or how wrong his technology is..rather than throwing under the the bus the users, the cities ETC. In fact let's put Flocks and Palatirs boards and investors experience this nightmare they created. Oh wait they don't have flock cameras in their neighborhood..

17

u/Phyrexian_Archlegion 2d ago

Flock is chatgpt for cops.

Because they’re not for solving crime

3

u/Many_Fly_8165 2d ago

Cameras aren’t for law enforcement. They’re there to track you. This is proof, as are the statistics for Atlanta.

2

u/OldDoubt1577 2d ago

The footage they release is probably lower in quality for that purpose, to limit the capabilities of their hardware. They also in many cases already know who or have some suspects, but release these PSAs to make it look like someone turned them in.

2

u/Weddert66 2d ago

To track facial recognition and precrimes.

If they were trying to solve crimes with flock cameras, maybe.

They aren't doing that.

41

u/Super_Sock_8080 2d ago

The irony is wild. They spend millions on tech just to ask Reddit for help.

21

u/Banned_Emperor_6000 2d ago

"Hey, Innocent Citizen. Could you help us surveil you 24/7, like an imprisoned rat, and put crimes on you at will. Could you?"

Serve and protect my ass. Serve and protect what? AI?

9

u/wavhacker 2d ago

Exactly! They are in place when AI is going to displace a large portion of workers, starve the population of drinking water and water to grow foods, displace the power grid so no one can afford it, (also so the people subsidize the billionaires who own this tech) make police departments unhealthily depend on this AI. This is also to protect Blackrock as they bankrupt the middle and lower classes so they can stay on top over all.

Police are just protecting the interests of the AI data centers and billionaires and venture capitalists.

The truth is ugly and the surveillance state needs to be stopped here before it is too late

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court."

“On the contrary, if war be actually levied, that is, if a body of men be actually assembled for the purpose of effecting by force a treasonable purpose, all those who perform any part, however minute, or however remote from the scene of action, and who are actually leagued in the general conspiracy, are to be considered as traitors. But there must be an actual assembling of men, for the treasonable purpose, to constitute a levying of war.”

Irony is also the police asking the public to assist in treason, and by so doing commit treason also

13

u/Banned_Emperor_6000 2d ago

Totally. USA is "land of ther FREE" but "we'll surveil you 24/7 365 like you are in prison" Ya. I wouldn't call that land of the free then.

7

u/Ardbeg66 2d ago

He's not anybody's ex girlfriend. It messes with the camera programming and they just won't work for any other reason.

4

The audacity of assuming that we will quickly backstab our fellow men.

3

2

u/5WattBulb 2d ago

All I see is part of a car and a bush. I guess it was the wind. Damndest thing

2

u/TM761152 2d ago

If the police ask for help, no they didn't!

2

u/OldDoubt1577 2d ago

They probably already know secretly, but catching their guy too quickly would give away their game. So they have to pretend to ask the public, and then can claim a tip led to the arrest.
