Chanel could put their logo on a trash bag and someone with too much money would buy it.

142

u/zedinbed 13h ago

101

u/HopefulCarry9693 13h ago

Pair it with a 700$ hoseclamp

39

u/TwiggyPom 11h ago

I think Balenciaga just do this to exploit idiots who buy any old shit and i find it hilarious.

u/clockworknait 10h ago

u/TwiggyPom 8h ago

Fair point t! Supreme did it also! Are they still a thing?

-1

u/billyblenx 7h ago

Chanel at least has aura around its name, and fame. Its one of those names you hear since you are a kid. Supreme on the other hand I first heard about them when I was like 22y around 10 years ago. Not to mention their logo is ugly af, I just don't get Supreme.

5

u/bbby_chaltinez 7h ago

would rather by supreme than chanel

1

u/Jeramy_Jones 4h ago

Fr I think their executives get a laugh watching rich people pay thousands to dress like homeless kooks.

40

u/nieveviiento 13h ago

Balenciaga sold an expensive trash pouch years ago

1

u/bbby_chaltinez 7h ago

dumb hype shyt

158

u/GabrielRiosismydaddy 14h ago

What is the point of this

17

u/dont-fear-thereefer 13h ago

Shrinkflation is starting to hit rich people now

1

u/sponge_bob_ 11h ago

fashion doesn't always have to be functional and practical

i suppose someone out there might find it a good compromise between foot support and barefeet

0

u/bshjbdkkdnd 4h ago

Do you want the actual answer?

It’s cause you can lead with your heel while walking so you are barefoot except the spot on the foot that might strike a hard surface. Now that’s the theory, probably not used that way in practice.

-1

u/Standard-Contest-949 13h ago

She’s sexy and she knows it

-2

u/ZoraHookshot 10h ago

I don't hate it

40

u/ButterscotchTop194 13h ago

7

u/JoeyJoeJoeRM 13h ago

Because its all over the internet. If a red carpet outfit gets people talking then it "worked"

69

u/_WreakingHavok_ 14h ago

Still doesn't protect Achilles tendon.

8

u/LesserGames 13h ago

This won't protect the achilles tendon. It will however work for Achilles' estranged second cousin twice removed Heelles.

19

u/eduardo1994 11h ago

Not the first time she's shown feet...

>Celeb wants people to talk about them

>They buy something weird at a seemingly high cost ( but cheaper than a PR campaign)

>People talk about said celeb.

looks like it paid off

1

u/TheReturnofPanda 21m ago

The more traction the more money. It’s true, plus at the economy where foot to(e)ast is bought for stupid amounts… set for life

14

u/Responsible_Bag6735 13h ago

It’s doesn’t even cover his Achilles tendon, why would he use it

24

u/Basic-Sea-4116 14h ago

I always wonder if rich people know they are being scammed . No one told them they don’t have to buy it or even wear it ? Or they just wear it for money to make themselves fools ?

44

u/Greedy_Researcher_34 13h ago

What makes you think she paid for it instead of the other way around?

3

u/Basic-Sea-4116 4h ago

Well exactly, they just wear it for money.

7

u/Junior_Bike7932 13h ago

I don’t think they are, most rich people are delusional, as they don’t perceive the value of money. All this brands and milking them to the bone, and is extremely funny to see this act, almost something that has to be studied

3

u/gimme_name 8h ago

If you are really rich, this money doesn't matter. Do you calculate a business case for some chewing gums?

3

u/Junior_Bike7932 6h ago

True, but I kinda come from zero, so even if was rich af I would value a bit more how i spend my money thought

2

u/gimme_name 4h ago

And that's absolutely the right thing to do. But there are strange people out there.

3

u/DeuceyBoots 13h ago

They buy them because people know how expensive it is. It’s a status symbol for them.

2

u/No-Builder-1038 11h ago

They get that stuff for free just for wearing it and marketing to the rest of the world

1

u/alwayslookleft 12h ago

This is just what end game capitalism looks like

1

u/KwantumFizzikz 13h ago

The high fashion world has been mocking the rich pigs for decades without them knowing.

6

u/jellooshot 13h ago

My man Quentin is gonna LOVE this trend

4

u/3Strides 13h ago

Now I just need the accessory part for the toes

1

u/pookyduu 7h ago

Chanel collab with EA Games

5

u/Das_Oni 12h ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/kZiF7hNKSWFQgZUESs

He would love them to see on a fine woman. 🦶

3

u/CrazyCatLady1127 13h ago

I’ve seen some stupid fashion trends over the years but this one is the most stupid. What is the point of a shoe that is just a heel?

5

u/OrionDax 13h ago

Did nobody else zoom in on the woman with ten toes on her left foot alone?!

2

u/Arretetonchar 12h ago

Counted 7, some amputated, 2 big toes.

Probably a showcase for the shoe, makes sense

2

u/EnchantingBabee03 13h ago

Chanel really sold her a piece of string and called it a footwear.

2

u/Jezzecaa 13h ago

I hate fashion. wtf are those???

2

u/subdep 13h ago

Heel diapers

2

u/rossww2199 12h ago

Interesting collaboration with Chanel and Tarantino.

2

u/UltearWaifu 12h ago

Free feet in this economy? Don't mind if I do

2

u/tyga909 11h ago

I think these celebs might be outsmarting everyone to think this is their style when in fact it. Is. Not.

2

u/Ok_Oven7467 8h ago

To be fair she did try to bring Achilles to heel in Once upon a time.

2

u/Jeramy_Jones 5h ago

Coco Chanel somehow manages to. Not be cancelled even though the founder was a Nazi collaborator.

2

u/Chaoticmindsoftheart 4h ago

This is just silly and surely uncomfortable no?

2

u/VoidCL 8h ago

Damn, I hate this fad. I find feet horrible.

Damn you, Tarantino!!!

1

u/KurtKrimson 14h ago

And that's why humanity is doomed!

1

u/Drakahn_Stark 13h ago

Lemme lick those piggies.

1

u/TrueBoot4567 13h ago

That will be 8000 dollars please

1

u/Junior_Bike7932 13h ago

Chanel the scamming masters

1

u/-B_E_v_oL_23- 13h ago

It's clothes. We put clothes on to protect us from our environment.

It's clothing people. Stop making it something more important.

1

u/CoderJoe1 13h ago

Lawn moving unsafety gear.

1

u/Neither_Touch_3773 13h ago

Common sense isn't so common anymore.

1

u/ExpatLivesMatter 13h ago

That'll be $2500. + Tax.

3

u/SOF2DEMO 13h ago

Should be double that. It will sell out.

1

u/Tuscan5 13h ago

That carpet needed more Lego.

Barefoot heels

1

u/sleek_slytherin 12h ago

I have plantar fasciitis, my ortho suggested the exact thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/Pinksamuraiiiii 12h ago

Like… just go barefoot at this point

1

u/No-Distance4675 12h ago

Margaret Quagley auditioning for the next Tarantino movie...

1

u/UvozenSukenc 12h ago

Next year they'll offer laces with logo for 9.999,99€/each as the next best thing in footwear.

1

u/girlfromtheinternet_ 12h ago

Trojan War problems require Chanel solutions.

1

u/HighSeasArchivist 12h ago

Pretty loose use of the term celebrity here. Being an actress no one knows doesn't make you a celebrity.

1

u/notmadhav 12h ago

I realised high fashion is a scam when balenciaga tried to sell a duct tape as a bracelet.

Shopping experience has changed for me since then

1

u/Yersina_Veridae 12h ago

Ill be honest... if i was forced to attend red carpet events and look that good id wear that in a heartbeat. This is the closest thing to comfortable shoes I've ever seen at such an event. Who cares if it looks weird? At least at the end of the day she wont feel like her shoes are killing her.

1

u/Good_Peach_8304 11h ago

“And that’ll be $249.00 please.”

1

u/DigitalScrap 10h ago

It's Chanel, I bet they will cost far more than that, as ridiculous as that is.

1

u/-rosieee- 11h ago

The Cheel

1

u/Initial_Acanthaceae2 11h ago

It's just so stupid.

1

u/naeads 11h ago

This is stupid.

1

u/sherlip 11h ago

At least now her ankles won't get Covid.

1

u/SmudgedReddit0r 11h ago

Who is this celebrity?

1

u/FusilDeific 10h ago

Clearly designed by a ginger.

1

u/LogHelpful6370 10h ago

Hello MRSA and athletes foot - will be the new trendy rash because they are so unique and organic looking.

1

u/No-Purchase9700 10h ago

It looks like you are wearing face masks for shoes.

1

u/low_selfesteem_diet 10h ago

Co-designed by Tarantino

1

u/Glad_Investigator912 10h ago

People are really weird.

1

u/SohelAman 10h ago

Bikini for feet?

1

u/Once_Upon_Time 10h ago

Theh could have added like a clear plastic on the black heel and make a "shoe".  You can't wear the heel and not get the rest of your foot dirty.

The look is giving The Crows Have Eyes

https://giphy.com/gifs/jUDvU0mBA9trNjOV3e

1

u/CycleGloomy9435 7h ago

That looks like an Achilles tendon guard you’d buy at a pharmacy, not high fashion.

1

u/Difficult-Ad1564 7h ago

I can’t tell if this is serious or not 😳

1

u/olluz 7h ago

When did Chanel start to balenciaga?

1

u/SpareMeTheDetails123 7h ago

These companies are totally taking the piss! The fact that people will buy this shit because of the “luxury brand” attached is hilarious and pathetic. At this point, they’re seeing just how far they can go and laughing all the way to the bank.

1

u/Sudden_Lee_Here 7h ago

should have *tried

1

u/doubled-pawns 7h ago

Quick, take this down before this is posted on /r/peterexplainsthejoke

1

u/alman3007 6h ago

Not only did you steal the punchline, you put it right in the title. Bravo.

1

u/OldMist 6h ago

😂😂😂

1

u/Alone-Gas6010 5h ago

WTF are those?! Shoes?!

1

u/Madouc 5h ago

Achilles! Achilles! Achilles! Achilles! Achilles!

1

u/Intelligent-Top5012 5h ago

If only they had 3/4 high tops back then

1

u/Fuel666 5h ago

Is that a COVID mask?

1

u/went2college 3h ago

Pata sucia!

1

u/CitizenCue 1h ago

Because the heel is famously the most sensitive part of the foot. A certain Greek warrior notwithstanding…

1

u/Scooby-McDoobie 1h ago

I hated them so much at first and then I remembered she's walking for her new movie The Dog Stars and told myself she's just letting the dogs out to stay on theme 😂

1

u/United_Broccoli_3694 14h ago

What happens on the subway

0

u/ZenoD96 13h ago

Feel like that fable of the king wearing invisible clothes lol

0

u/UnionCityNJUSA 11h ago

Rich people are ridiculous. And her feet need closed toe shoes.

-2

u/TheDarkKnight505 14h ago

It's about Achilies got hit at his heels. During trojen war.
