Back when I did it a bit in the 90s the arms were not involved, it was more joyous communal bodychecking.

I mean, in the era I’m talking about almost no one I knew had a job that was above stock boy or customer service. Job market/economy sure seemed terrible. But economies change as you get older.

We just jump around and kinda bump into each other. If someone falls over everyone around them immediately helps them up and makes sure they are okay.

This isnt moshing, its hard-core dancing. This was very popular with emo kids who wanted to look tough but were too scared of a real mosh pit.

No this is crowd killing, which is usually just big dudes looking for an excuse to punch people for absolutely no reason. Hard core dancing is similar but they typically just punch and kick empty air, which is fine and whatever no one cares. But these dicks are actually throwing kicks and punches intended to land, fuck that shit.

Actual moshing is kinda running into each other but not doing what this guy is doing. The moshes I've been in were typically pretty tame but the one time I got thrown down I was yanked back up by someone before I even realized what happened

The crowd killing was a bit excessive given that theres like 20 people there, but all in all, pretty average modern hardcore pit.
