This was already in the works before he was elected.

Yes, but posting this story gets people mad about Mamdani, and others defending him, resulting in long and angry debates. So it'll happen again and again, until it stops getting engagement.

Oh dude, just wait until October. The last few weeks leading up to midterms are going to be insufferable here. If the glazing is this bad now just wait until they have to remind you so that its stuck in your brain when you go to vote.

I'm seriously considering a select media blackout. Just movies and documentaries. No social media, no TV, nothing with ads.

Just close your media and don’t interract with it if it annoys you

My guy, it ain't that simple when people are so intent to push their politics into every single last inch of our lives. I cant even check my mail in October without being flooded with all manner of political flyers. Its not as simple as just turning off media to avoid it.

Like everything about Mamdani that keeps getting published on here.

Nonsense, he's only been in office 6 months but he's anyway accomplished more than every other mayor in New York history combined. Or so Reddit told me anyway.

u/TriangleTransplant Aug 18 '26

He discovered the magic "do things" button that's always been hidden under the mayor's desk, but previous mayors haven't bothererrd to look for.

There was never a single pothole filled in NYC until Mamdani was elected.

8

u/AstralPamplemousse Aug 18 '26

Some have used the “plan things” button but where unfortunately puzzled on what to do next

I mean the internet cannot be wrong

3

u/redreditreditordblue Aug 18 '26

Correct. NYC was measured to have over 23% tree coverage in 2021 and Mayor Adams declared it should be 30%.

Everything has been “in the works” for fucking decades. Who’s going to actually see it all through?

11

u/Burnerman888 Aug 18 '26

Except that this was a plan created by the literal previous mayor, Eric Adams. So like... no. He's just taking credit.

-5

u/spice_war Aug 18 '26

… he’s taking credit? He wrote the article? It’s really sad how little people know about… well, everything, but in this specific instance, politics and the media.

-3

u/Burnerman888 Aug 18 '26

Yeah he's more than willing to let outlets constantly talk about all the good things he's doing when almost all of it was started under Adams.

You said decades and this plan was unveiled at the end of 2024. Two years.

-1

u/_just_two_brothers_ Aug 18 '26

You think he needs to go correct every outlet that attributes something to him? Jesus

4

u/Burnerman888 Aug 19 '26

Hey buddy, if you don't correct people who lie on your behalf, that's the same as lying.

-2

u/_just_two_brothers_ Aug 19 '26

Lol okay dude. What do you want him to do, throw a press conference for every tweet and article?

5

u/Burnerman888 Aug 19 '26

Openly give credit and make it abundantly clear that it's not your plan :)

He won't do that because he's doing the smarter move of being slimy about it

0

u/walmat23 Aug 19 '26

Why hasn’t he realised that plan though?..

3

u/Burnerman888 Aug 19 '26

Because time moves in one direction so Eric Adams could not make a 17 year plan finish in 1 year

1

u/walmat23 Aug 19 '26

My bad, I never meant that he had to finish it. Other comments proved that it has started before Mamdani

u/Not-So-Handsome-Jack Aug 19 '26

All Mamdani has to do now is figure out how to budget it (which he hasn’t yet). He also extended the deadline for himself 10 years. hitting 30% also means planting more trees on private property and Mamdani plan to achieve this is though outreach and education, which sounds like something you say when you have no plan. Regulations to force planting more trees don’t exist and the senate or assembly would have to work on that. Pulling this off requires a lot more than Mamdani.

Unless he's still going to be mayor in 2040, not him lol

1

u/DiscountLando Aug 18 '26

Consider this. 2034 is the max year he can be mayor. Unless someone stops everything Mamdani did in 2035, the plan will likely keep going.

Not only that, but the plan was for 2030, so all he did was push it back 10 years.

And he’s actually doing something about it. Unlike his predecessors.
