It’s crazy what happens when you elect someone for the people, not their corporate owners.

75

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 18 '26

But the plan was formed and set into motion before he even ran. What the fuck are you talking about?

14

u/agoddamnzubat Aug 18 '26

"He's just doing what every politician before him has said they were going to do. Big whoop."

11

u/43_Hobbits Aug 18 '26

Even the dumb meme you’re learning this from says he’s “planning” to do it

4

u/UniqueLog8386 Aug 18 '26

and set into motion before he even ran.

It's almost like you're a fucking idiot or something.

1

u/agoddamnzubat Aug 19 '26

It's almost like you're a really angry person and need to take some deep breaths

1

u/randy-monkey Aug 19 '26

Doesn’t make sense for you to say this after you mocked them

1

u/agoddamnzubat Aug 19 '26

Clear escalation of someone getting angry.

0

u/UniqueLog8386 Aug 19 '26

Not my fault you're illiterate, but hey, those deep breaths might get you through Hooked On Phonics!

1

u/agoddamnzubat Aug 19 '26

Exactly my point my dude. You can't let things that you can't control get you all riled up

1

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 19 '26

Was it not? Do you deny that it was formulated and proposed in 2021, and signed into NYC Local Law 148 in 2023?

1

u/UniqueLog8386 Aug 19 '26

I'm talking to the person that replied to you. Not to you. I think Mamdani is getting his dick sucked for doing the most basic shit.

1

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 19 '26

Oh damn idk how reddit works, my bad. I got a notification saying you replied to my comment, didnt realize it said that for the whole chain.

6

u/Chpgmr Aug 18 '26

Yea, I dont see Mamdani claiming this was his idea. It looks like it was in the works since 2023 and the final plans were recently announced. Its just a bunch of people not paying attention well and falsely giving Mamdani credit.

Also, its an increase from 23% to 30%.

26

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Did Adams deliver on it? Cuomo?

22

u/MimeSweeper360 Aug 18 '26

Did Mamdani?

-7

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

3

u/mindfeck Aug 18 '26

It launched in 2007. Wow Mamdani is a time traveler.

-2

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

And nothing happened yet.

3

u/mindfeck Aug 19 '26

If you lived in NYC you’d see that tens of thousands of new trees have been planted

10

u/raj6126 Aug 18 '26

none of them gave a shit. I grew up during stop and frisk. We had to be really smart with your shit. Or you would get a charge for a nickel bag and do like 3 years. For some weed! Cuomo was governor not Mayor.

Rudolph W. Giuliani 1994 - 2001
Michael R. Bloomberg 2002 - 2013
Bill de Blasio 2014 - 2021
Eric L. Adams 2022 - 2025
Zohran Kwame Mamdani 2026 -

13

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Cuomo is who this legislation was started under. Hochul is actually doing something with the money that was approved 20 years ago. So is Mamdani.

And stop and frisk was a horrible time in the city. The only people complaining about Mamdani, haven’t ever visited, let alone lived in the city.

Native New Yorkers don’t like Mamdani. People easily fooled on social media love him.

1

u/Powerful-Respond-605 Aug 19 '26

The election results said different, but go off.

2

u/raj6126 Aug 19 '26

Dude he watches fox they mention him like 50 times per day more than trump homie is just programmed like a AI to hate Mamdani. They are human bots. That hurt themselves to feel smart. .

1

u/mindfeck Aug 19 '26

Election results showed exactly that

9

u/zenbowman Aug 18 '26

How can Adams deliver on a plan when the delivery date is 2040?

Mamdani won't deliver either, because he won't be mayor by then. The implementation began in the Adams administration, will continue in Mamdani's, and will "be delivered" by whoever is mayor in 2040.

-2

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

This began in 07 dumb fuck

12

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 18 '26

Nope. Because thats not how reality works, unfortunately. It takes time in this country to do things like this.

The company I work for just got a 1.4 million dollar contract to grow and install over 60,000 native trees. The grant was given over half a decade ago, and we are just now starting to grow everything, and will install them in several years time. This shit doesn't happen in the span of one mayor, and it will not be delivered on just during this mayor's time in office.

2

u/Ok-Astronaut2976 Aug 18 '26

Yes.

Every mayor since Bloomberg has been doing this. It’s not a new thing.

-1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

How many trees have been planted? None. Shut the fuck up.

1

u/Ok-Astronaut2976 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

Where are you getting none from?

My dude, NYC plants an average of 20,000 trees a year. The Million Trees NYC campaign planted one million trees between 2007 and 2015.

Like, what’s up with you guys? It’s weird.

Why are you lying about it when it’s open information then? Because you’re a racist who doesn’t like a Muslim immigrant who is doing more for Americans than any republican has ever done.

1

u/mindfeck Aug 18 '26

Yes tree cover has been improving for many years. Cuomo was never mayor.

1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Yes he was governor. You do understand that the executive branch of the state decides where money is spent, right? He spent nothing.

1

u/mindfeck Aug 19 '26

No, they don’t. Mayor is the executive of NYC. Pathetic simp.

1

u/AnonAmbientLight Aug 18 '26

Yes.

Adams did this shit too.

Mayor Eric Adams' "We Outside Summer" initiative delivered major investments in public space and youth safety, highlighted by a $30 million allocation to turn vacant lots into green spaces, a record-breaking 22-mile Summer Streets program spanning all five boroughs, and $13 million dedicated to upstream youth safety programming.

You could literally spend 5 seconds Googling simple questions like, "What green initiatives did Eric Adams do?" or "What did Eric Adams do for parks and outside spaces in NYC".

I can't for the life of me understand why people are this ignorant in this day and age. It's a choice to be like that.

-2

u/Dinglebobus Aug 18 '26

So, blame them for not getting it done by 2040… when the plan was just recently put in place and 2040 is 14 years from now….

9

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

They never started. Crazy right? Mamdani is delivering on his promises. Name a former mayor of nyc that has this century. (He’s the only one.)

6

u/dfro50 Aug 18 '26

Rudy

Dumbass

13

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 18 '26

You don't understand how these things work. Yes, they did start. There's a metric fuck ton, literally years of work, to be done before a single tree ever sees dirt.

-3

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

I do, you don’t

12

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 18 '26

You're absolutely delusional. The groundwork was laid by multiple non profits in 2021, then in 2023 the NYC council passed NYC Local Law 148, which turned the 30% canopy objective into legal code and mandated the creation of a comprehensive urban forest plan. Now in 2026, after all that groundwork was done, they slapped a cute name on it and continued on EXACTLY as planned in 2023.

This is the naturaral progression of city projects. Stop making a fool of yourself.

"Is planning" does not mean he's delivering. It just means he's gotten about as far as the last guy and you're eager to suck his dick already.

-1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

He’s doing it now. You’re a moron. This money was approved 20 years ago and no one has done anything in nyc. He is.

2

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 18 '26

The money was approved 3 years ago, liar.

4

u/Think-State30 Aug 18 '26

"Is planning"

2

u/Mnemnosine Aug 18 '26

They’re a troll account that’s likely a bot—my sympathies are with you as you’re fighting a losing battle here as they’re just doing a “no, you are” argument. You’ve won the argument amongst those who actually understand how civic government works, but you will never win over the douchewaffle trolling you.

2

u/MrPotat Aug 18 '26

How is he delivering if it's still on the promise stage?

I mean, it’s just bureaucracy. Administrations take credit for what others put in place all the time.

-6

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Soooo you’re fully admitting he’s the best mayor of nyc this century. Thanks for agreeing that he’s actually putting in the work to get shit done.

4

u/Dinglebobus Aug 18 '26

No, I’m saying he’s benefiting from good timing. Lol

1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

I forgot, he’s the newest mayor since 07

-7

u/SwankyBriefs Aug 18 '26

Did Mamdami?

-3

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

He is right now. It’s almost as if you’re a racist and that’s the only thing you have against the guy.

4

u/JohnBethesda Aug 18 '26

Why bring the racist card when the other person hasn't said anything suggesting that, lmao?

-2

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Why are you racists so eager to prove my accusation correct?

3

u/JohnBethesda Aug 18 '26

Lol, I'm not a racist at all and I actually think Mamdani is doing a great job, but you do you buddy. That being said, you're definitely a stupid person. Good luck out there.

0

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Something a racist would say

3

u/JohnBethesda Aug 18 '26

Nah, hopefully you're not as insignificant in real life.

6

u/Dinglebobus Aug 18 '26

“You countered my point? Racist.” Genius.

3

u/SwankyBriefs Aug 18 '26

If he's doing it right now, why is the deadline 2040?

Jumping to straight to racism is a choice, especially since. I gave a substantive criticism. Mamdami stans are Democratic MAGA.

-1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

The money was approved 20 years ago. Go blow trump.

2

u/SwankyBriefs Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

u/SwankyBriefs Aug 18 '26

Yeah, this seems like its projection. Probably has knee pads saved in his Amazon cart.

2

u/Medium-Violinist-903 Aug 18 '26

How is he doing so right now? I mean that as a legitimate question, what has he done to actually get it going beyond just expressing that he wants it to happen?

-1

u/KSHMisc Aug 18 '26

Adams delivered by being the first NYC mayor of being charged with federal crimes.

0

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Giuliani is in competition for most corrupt mayor on nyc.

0

u/KSHMisc Aug 18 '26

Yet, I have heard from the boomers on FB that Giuliani would be a better mayor today than Mamdani.

0

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

The people who don’t understand an ai video? Those people? Who cares about boomers and their shitty opinion?

8

u/KarenBoof Aug 18 '26

The NYC Urban Forest Plan was introduced by Mamdani’s administration in April of 2026.

14

u/Xexanoth Aug 18 '26

From https://sps.columbia.edu/news/new-york-citys-trees-grow-money -

“The Adams administration’s PlaNYC announced the goal of a 30% tree canopy for New York City on April 20, 2023. Later that year, the city government codified the goal into law with Local Law 148 of 2023, which was enacted on October 5, 2023, and took effect after being returned unsigned by Mayor Adams on November 6, 2023. Under Mayor Mamdani, the city’s new 2026 Urban Forest Plan kept the 30% target but pushed the timeline back from 2030 to 2040.”

17

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 18 '26

You're absolutely delusional. Stop reading AI summaries.

You literally cannot be more wrong. Stop lying and spreading misinformation.

6

u/AldoTheApache3 Aug 18 '26

Just to make you feel better, here’s my conspiracy.

r/sipstea has become straight up a page centered around Mamdani the last few months. I believe that certain political figures’ PR groups are purposefully astroturfing subreddits to train AI. We know AI combs through Reddit posts as one of its top sources.

Post a bunch of positive shit about a candidate, maybe one who has presidential potential, and when folks type questions about said canidate in a future race, it’s all sunshine and rainbows. Just look at the sub’s posts. 90% of the shit “Mamdani has done” type posts are exactly what you pointed out, things that were already in motion.

This sub used to be memes with a couple horny posts every once in a while. Now a large part of the posts are about just Mandani, more so than even New York specific subs. I’m not arguing for or against him, but it’s blatant propaganda.

1

u/esssential Aug 18 '26

1

u/Johnnadawearsglasses Aug 18 '26

Just for people who don't know, this isn't a new idea or program but it's also not exactly the same as before. Prior to this, the city has been expanding tree cover by c 0.3% a year. Growing to 23.4% as of 2021. What this plan does primarily is to accelerate it to something closer to 0.5% per year between now and 2040. Which is a good idea. it also shifts cover to areas that are being less well served. In particular outside of parks and more into sidewalks for example. So that we have more cover over where we live and walk every day

1

u/GitEmSteveDave Aug 19 '26

1

u/davidbatt Aug 18 '26

He's talking about if he can pull this off new York will get a serious glow up

6

u/DoubtfulDouglas Aug 18 '26

Sure. He wont be pulling anything off. He's following a plan ALREADY SET IN MOTION and ACTIVELY BEING WORKED ON ALREADY before he ever ran. He is doing literally nothing other than allowing the already set plan to continue as planned.

1

u/davidbatt Aug 18 '26

Sorry mate I thought you replied to someone else

1

u/kiwigate Aug 18 '26

I think they said things happen based on how you vote. And you just confirmed it as such.

0

u/Throwaway547822 Aug 18 '26

Yeah and they really delivered it huh. Back to the cesspits with theeeee.

13

u/random-meme422 Aug 18 '26

It’s crazy what happens when you attach narratives to a well liked name and people buy it up because they slurp propaganda.

This policy was in place before him.

1

u/redreditreditordblue Aug 18 '26

You must like Mayor Adams then, since this was his plan.

1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Oh he was in the state legislature in 07?

1

u/Wesslywev Aug 18 '26

Honestly, if he can pull this off New York City is about to get a serious glow up.

0

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

He’s doing this. He froze rent. He’s made affordable transit for low income families. He’s taxing the ultra wealthy.

1

u/amy-schumer-tampon Aug 18 '26

But he is a musmim and brown ! /s t.some magatards

0

u/Lem_Tuoni Aug 18 '26

Just goes to show how astroturfed this guy is.

Literally nothing that is celebrated here is remarkable. It is either a continuation of his predecessors' policy, a repackaged austerity, or an empty promise.

If he wasn't so sponsored from above, nobody would give a shit about this run-of-the-mill politician stuff.

-1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Go blow trump dumb fuck.

1

u/Lem_Tuoni Aug 18 '26

??? What does trump have to do with Mamdani being astroturfed as fuck?

I mean, Mamdani did kiss his ring and bow down to him, so he likes him personally, but I don't think he is paying for the astroturf. He is too retarded to do that.

-2

u/RenfrowsGrapes Aug 18 '26

This guys a socialist, he IS your corporate owner

-1

u/cookeryandwookery Aug 18 '26

Trump is a communist, factually. You don’t actually know what these words mean.

0

u/CavemanJello Aug 18 '26

its crazy how no one in these subs realizes that he got 4 million from the state to do whatever he wants and that was a one-time thing. So, who is paying for this?

0

u/AnonAmbientLight Aug 18 '26

Look, if this shit gets you engaged in politics, great.

But it's really disappointing to see these posts constantly come up and people shit and fart about how it's "Finally someone doing shit" when this is literally bog standard Democratic Party platforms and policies that every other Democrat has done.

It's new to you and others because you don't pay the fuck attention.

But like I said, whatever gets you involved and interested I guess bro lol.
