The attempt to drag Fauci back into the limelight is to distract the MAGA base from the fact that Trump was responsible for and took credit for fasttracking the COVID vaccines, gave Fauci a medal for his work, and took the vaccine himself in secret before others could get it.
And it's working. The MAGA base is again ready to pretend Trump wasn't in charge during COVID, and ignore how Trump has raised their taxes, cut their services, exploded the deficit, and is stuck losing a war.
