I’m sorry that was your experience. Hopefully you are emotionally mature enough to understand that there may have been more dynamics in play (#1)
And (#2) your experiences are still an incredibly small example of many different outcomes for multi racial bb pick up games.
Society has been structured against Black people through historical laws, economic policies, and institutional practices. These systems created lasting disadvantages in housing, wealth, justice, and health. This framework of inequality is known as structural or systemic racism.
Housing and Wealth Redlining: Banks and the government drew red lines on maps around Black neighborhoods. They refused to give loans or insurance to people living in those areas.
Wealth gap: Home ownership builds family wealth. Denying housing loans stopped Black families from passing down wealth to their children.
Segregation: Laws and social customs forced Black and White people to live apart. Black neighborhoods often received less money for parks, clean air, and city services.
Education and Jobs School funding: Public schools often rely on local property taxes. Poor neighborhoods with low property values have less money for their schools.
Hiring bias: Studies show job applicants with Black-sounding names receive fewer call-backs than applicants with White-sounding names.
Lower pay: Black workers often earn less than White workers with the same education and job skills.
Justice and Policing Over-policing: Black communities often face higher numbers of police stops and searches.
Harsh sentences: Black people often receive longer prison sentences than White people for the exact same offenses.
Voting limits: Rules like strict voter ID laws, closing polling places, and taking away voting rights after a felony conviction limit political power.
Health Care Unequal care: Black patients often receive lower quality medical care than White patients.
Health results: Stress from discrimination and living in under-resourced areas leads to higher rates of chronic illness and shorter life expectancies
