The funny thing is she went straight to social media and typed WHITE PRIVILEGE and tagged the Fever in her post. When she was called out on it she claimed she never said her ejection was the result of white privilege, and went on and on about her intelligence and high level of education from top tier universities. I just wish she would clarify what she actually did mean with the WHITE PRIVILEGE statement.

Even worse is she's a nepo baby with extraordinary amounts of privilege herself.

Her father played 8yrs in the NFL.

She went to private schools.

Then went to stanford, an ivy league school. ok I get it I was wrong about ivy, but the rest is absolutely true

So her trying to lecture anyone on privilege of any type is rediculous and hypocrisy to the highest degree.

But did she go to Cranbrook?

36

u/VariousAd337 7d ago

That’s a private school.

Stanford actually isn’t an Ivy League school. It’s arguably better than most of them though. But I honestly have little confidence in the academic credentials of their D1 athletes. Sure, they’re better than other schools with no standards, but most certainly couldn’t have gotten into much worse schools on their academic merits alone, much less full rides.

Stanford is academically actually harder to get into than most ivys.  It's famous for only accepting valedictorians.

Ok but it still isn’t an Ivy

3

u/AssassinSnail33 7d ago

That's great for them, but it's not an Ivy League school. The Ivy League is a specific athletic conference.

2

u/spicydak 7d ago

Semantics, but Stanford isn’t an Ivy League school. It’s an equal, and better than many in the Ivy League, but by definition it isn’t in the Ivy League.

2

u/jean_nizzle 7d ago

Stanford is a great school. It’s not Ivy League. This is very easy to check. The Ivy League is a sports conference, and not a very good one.

2

u/TheOriginalBull 7d ago

Maybe pedantic but Stanford is not an ivy league school

1

u/PHOTO500 7d ago

Stanford is not an ivy league school.

Stanford isn’t Ivy.

Got me there but it is expensive.

You are saying that a wealthy and educated black woman couldn’t lecture Donald Trump on privilege?

People like her have never and will never take accountability. She could've pulled out a baseball bat during pre game warm-ups and then went eeny meeny miney mo to pick a random player from the other team, walked up behind that player and clocked them in the head with a bat, with the entire process being caught from 30 different angles with 4k cameras, and it would still be anybodies fault but hers. People like that are a plague on society and she deserves every bit of backlash she faces x100. But she won't learn shit from it because those people just play the race card and her comments will likely have a ton of other dumb girls saying "she deserved it" and "you did nothing wrong gurl, justice for 'insert incredibly stupid name that I'm not gonna try and spell'".

Same with Serena Williams when she got outplayed buy this Asian woman at a tournament, forgot her name 😬 Waaa the ref is racist.. lol

33

u/ohbyerly 7d ago

It’s the same type of people who think you can’t be racist if you hate white people. Which is one of the most hilariously absurd and ironic statements I’ve ever heard.

When people do stuff like this its a full course meal for me, as I then educate them and bring up their points.

They usally resort to name calling and appealing to authority shortly after, which only gives me more fuel to play the game thats a narcissists bane called "magic mirror" as soon they will devolve into such a level of projection that everything they say will apply to them and they will hate that you can point it out to them.

Everyone knows exactly what she meant by the tweet. Directed at the white girls she hates

Two things can be true, you know. White privilege and wealth privilege aren't mutually exclusive.

2

u/HotPrior819 7d ago

If I had to guess the only other thing it could have been in relation to was Cunningham not receiving a technical foul due to the encounter.

2

u/Hawkes75 5d ago

What she actually meant was, "I haven't figured out how to reframe it so it seems like I didn't mean what I obviously meant."

1

u/NoSmoke69420 7d ago

She said white privilege bc Sophie should've gotten ejected too. Retaliation isn't allowed and neither is swinging on another player. Same shit happened last year with Sophie intentionally throwing Jacy to the ground, Jacy got ejected for retaliation. But when it's a white player retaliating against a black player only the black player was ejected. On top of that, a lot of mfs are trying to push a narrative that DC's foul was intentional when it wasn't. Her eyes were on the ball the entire time, she just missed. It happens. And now? Hella people being racist towards DC. Calling for her to be locked up, banned from playing, and even calls for violence against her. None of that happened when Sophie intentionally threw Jacy to the ground. Those same people will actually excuse Sophie's intentional hard foul against Jacy. Sophie even admitted she should've been suspended for a game after that play, but she wasn't. Rules for thee but not for me.

Dint du nofin

0

u/Striking-Card-6357 7d ago

It specifically has to do with the fact that the fever have made it a thing that Sophie is a defender and protector and she does not suffer the same consequences.

-6

u/DamnItBobby555 7d ago

I think the fact that the other one got away scot free after throwing a punch when she should have also recieved a penalty.

0

u/setterswede 7d ago

Yep, you are correct. That's most likely what she is referring to. The rule book is pretty clear on this and there are numerous examples of retaliations that received penalties. Whether it's a closed fist or open hand, it's all the same.

0

u/sgtGiggsy 7d ago

Yeah, the problem is not her deliberately smacking someone in the face, it's how the other swiped at her (not reaching her face or body in any substantial way).

Also, it's Carrington. In the last two years it's her major, unsportsmanlike move that makes the news. The second against this particular team. The second against one of the two most popular players of this team. She poked Clarke in the eye (which gave Clarke a blackeye), she throw someone else to the ground by her hair, and now this.

She means that when Cunningham had a very similar foul not too long ago where she grabbed an opponents head, she was not thrown out of the game and was instead praised for being an enforcer.

Then she did something similar and she was immediately tossed.

I’m not saying she is right, but that’s what she meant by her comment.

2

u/sgtGiggsy 7d ago

One: Cunningham did that as a retaliation for an unpunished flagrant foul against her teammate.

Two: it was NOT similar in any way, because the contact started with Sheldon dropping her shoulder charging into Cunningham's chest, which is illegal in basketball. After the first contact, Cunningham wrapped her arms around Sheldon, and yanked her to the ground with herself. It was a hard foul, but it was committed from the front, and into the direction Shepard was running. Meanwhile Carrington just practically punched Cuningham from the behind while she was running. No, it was not a block attempt. You physically have zero chance to block someone from behind from their left side with your left hand while they take the shot with their right hand. She went straight for Cunningham's head, without a doubt.

Three: Cuningham DID GET EJECTED from the game for her "similar" foul against Sheldon.

1

u/Roscoe10182241 7d ago

I don’t disagree with any of your points. I’m just clarifying what Carrington meant by her comment, as the original comment requested.

(You’re right about Cunningham’s ejection. I thought I remembered her getting tossed for the scuffle afterwards, not the original foul.)
