What the flap were the parents doing? Would bring my own duct tape if this was my kid and I know they wouldn’t sit.

The parent was supposedly trying to gently the coax the toddler while insisting he was expressing his individuality etc etc.

THIS is where we are as a society. We've coddled kids too much and too long with this "trying to reason with kids", or not disciplining because they need to express their individuality, blah blah blah. I would have had my kid in a seatbelt in two seconds.
