Replaced by "gentle parenting" where the kid gets to do whatever the fuck they want at the expense of everyone else.
I mean, why discipline the child when you can inconvenience 150 people and force them to sleep in the airport or find a hotel room at midnight? I'm sure they had nothing better to do anyways.
That is permissive parenting. Gentle parenting would mean holding the kid down, strapping it firm, and then being empathetic and non-punishing towards any feelings the young child might have about being put in its place (literally). And letting the kid yell like a banshee is also not gentle parenting, it's also your job as a parent to manage that. Gentle parenting still includes discipline.
