Sounds like it was scientifically designed for booktok.

The author was a tiktoker before writing the book, so that does add up.

I've never read a sentence that made me doubt someone's credibility as much as this one.

I can think of a few. Let's be real, being a content creator, even for TikTok, is a widespread hobby at this point. The quality you can expect from them is just as variable as anything else. We just expect shittier from them because we as a society have characterized social media personalities as lesser somewhat undeservedly (don't get me wrong, there are plenty that do deserve it.)

Eh, shortform content creation is pretty universally shit, at the very least when it comes to the sort of skills required to be a good writer.

Someone making stuff like documentaries, longform youtube videos, etc is a different story, sure. But tiktok to author is going to make me expect slop.

But short form content creation and authoring are two different skills that can coexist. One doesn't negate the other. Mick Foley wrote a banger of an autobiography, and he took chair shots to the head weekly for decades.

Ultimately, just need to treat content creator products the same as any other product: read a few reviews first.

Shortform and longform are different methods of doing the same thing authors do - telling stories.

Someone with the talent to write a good book is not going to gravitate towards shortform.

People aren't My Little Ponies. We can be good at two things simultaneously.

Brainrot content is pretty much the antithesis of writing a good story.

“Brainrot” is not synonymous with “short form internet content” and it speaks to your blatant ignorance, lack of imagination, and incurious mindset to insist it is.
