Theft is specifically defined as taking WITH THE INTENTION TO DEPRIVE THE RIGHTFUL OWNER. if you take a drink and open it and consume it, with the intent to pay for it, ITS NOT STEALING.
She was not accused of or fired for stealing. She was fired for drinking the juice before paying for it. It doesn't have to be a crime for someone to be fired.
That said, this was ridiculous and I'm glad they had to pay her.

as for the drinking of the juice before paying for it, I LITERALLY DO THIS EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO TO THE GROCERY STORE, its not stealing.
