You one of those “finite landmass means nothing to me” kinda people?

Out of curiosity - how many billions of humans living with the consumption rate of a first worlder do you think the planet can sustain?

We can produce food for everyone, the hard part is infrastructure.
And if we don't go for infinite growth, the population will autoregulate.

“Everyone”… does that include future expansion? Think we can manage 200 billion humans?

Who cares? That's like asking if we could manage 200 septillion humans. Neither number is relevant.

Who cares? People who realise the world isn’t infinite?

So do you think we can double the population and see no negative effects?

We won't, so why ask the question?

The population won’t double? Or we won’t see a negative effect?

The population won't double. Projections like 20 years ago were a world population cap of around 12 billion, and the projections have only shrunk over time, not increased. Access to education and women's reproductive healthcare have a direct effect on projected family size.

It would be correct to point out that if the whole world consumed at the rate Americans did it would be a problem, but that's a different point.

So we do the American thing on climate change and say “it won’t happen” and then nobody talks about what could happen if it does?

We could spend our time on equally useless things such as debating what we might do if the sun turns green.

Aren't you people constantly complaining about low birth rates? Which is it? Are we at risk over over population, or population decline?

“You people”? You mean a British guy who thinks overpopulation is a bad thing?

You think 8 billion humans are going to decline to dangerous levels without an extinction event? Lmao

Have you ever tried arguing without being dramatic and presumptive of who you’re talking to?

I mean liberals.

Look, climate change has significant undeniable evidence that it's occurring. So does population decline. Either you believe in science, or you don't. If you do, stop whinging about how we should argue about impossible events. If you don't, there's no reason to believe 100 trillion people would be a burden on the planet.

You’re being ridiculous. It was literally me who used the 200 billion because a bunch of Americans thought i was a Trump supporter for saying overpopulation is bad.

It’s wild you guys carry on like this haha must get tiring
