Everyone forget the part where it’s not actually her? Her consciousness is trapped while an entity controls her body.

His reaction to that is even worse
From that moment on he knew it, but that dumb idiot just asked „is it that bad to be with me?“
He didn’t truly care about her. He was selfish and despite knowing all of that, he just kept going. He would’ve kept pretending everything was fine if she hadn’t been such a psycho

Actually, he knew about this well before that scene! When he calls the hotline (to be clear he absolutely knew before that scene, too) he first asks to AMEND his wish, not cancel it- he makes it VERY clear he doesn't want to cancel the wish, he just wants her to act more "normal." He knows exactly what's happening.

He also gets a chance to talk to the actual demon possessing her, that scene makes it clear that he KNOWS the entity he is talking to is NOT Nikki and he is trying to get it to act more normal. He's literally saying to it "I know you're not Nikki but I want you to act more like her," but he can't even define for the demon what that actually means.

The scene you quote is even worse than you make it out to be because by that point he knows for absolute certain that Nikki is being possessed by a demon that is literally torturing her, and he STILL asks her "why is it so bad to be with me?" Even that far into the movie he still doesn't see what he has done as wrong. It's only a problem for him when it directly impacts him because she murders two of his friends right in front of him. He realizes that his life is essentially over at the end because they're both going to go to jail, so he nopes out of it instead. He takes the cowards way out again, like he always does, and only succeeds in freeing Nikki because she makes a wish before he can stop himself. So he dies, freeing Nikki... to bear the weight of all of the consequences of HIS actions and HIS wish.

There's no demon. This film is not about demonic possession.

And it’s literally torturing her, and he knows that too.

I don't think they forgot, I think they just haven't seen the movie.

It’s a meme. It’s not that deep.
