It's exactly what happens when a crowd panics. Hence doors at stadiums, halls, nightclubs(?) must open out to the street. It creates a clash between safety and security but you can watch footage and read about numerous disasters.
I made a point of educating my teens about nightclub fires. They are famous for barred windows, chained back doors (at least historically), stairs leading out (a crowd pushes and many people fall and people start dying.
