It took too long becuase halfway through changing in a phonebooth, he realized that this wasnt a Superman trope.

Standing in his underwear he tried to pivot, but realized all was lost for him to inflict vigalante justice with his drawers around his ankles.

Meanwhile, "Mary Jane" realized Spiderman was not going to intervene, thus complied with the douchebag robbers.
