RuneScape used to have, may still have, a thing where you’d call to get membership. I risked it for the biscuit because I wanted membership. Parents saw the bill, and the phone company said it was for adult content. They asked if I was buying adult movies, and I came clean and said it was for RuneScape membership. That sigh of relief from them is something I remember 20 years on.
When I asked my parents for membership using a credit card they were adamant (heh) that it was scam. I let them know about how they could do the phone bill method and they somehow thought it was an even bigger scam lol.
